    Rear Projector Ballast Testing

    Hi everyone

I have an Hitachi 55VG825 55`rear projector that blew a bulb, it was the OEM bulb from 2005, so it was not that unexpected that it would go, got 3200 hours of it so not too shabby. I ordered a replacement bulb and installed it and within 30 seconds it blew, and since I had the rear cover off I noticed that the gas discharge tube was lighting up every few seconds. Ballast`s are somewhat out of my normal line of repairs and was wondering if there anyone knew how to troubleshoot the power without a scope or high voltage adapter for my meter.

Tv is in great shape, from father in law so I know that there was no previous service performed and the Tv was well looked after , he got rid of it only because of the bulb blowing.

Here are some pics, dust has all been blown out, very clean, no visible damage to any component or any odd smells from the boards.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

TOSHIBA DLP 52HM95 How to reset timer module on bulb
    by repair-it
I replaced the bulb only on my Toshiba DLP The bulb is a TB-25. This is the first time I've done a bulb only replacement. Supposedly there is a timer module that needs to be re-calibrated or reset. I don't know where the module is located. I see some vendors selling the bulb with the housing stating module included which leads me to think the module is located inside the enclosure the bulb mounts in, but I didn't see it. Maybe it's inside the plug attached to the bulb?

Anyway - I am seeking information on how to reset this so called module so that the lamp will operate. Apparently...

    LUMIMAN Smart Bulb IC ID?
    by ezenia
    Hi,

I have a LUMIMAN Smart Bulb that suddenly stopped lighting one day. The bulb is still detected in the app, but won't light. I've probed around and nothing seems to look off with any of the diodes, caps or resistors. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module seems to be working as it's still detected in the app. I even tried deleting and re-pairing the bulb (it didn't light, but I was still able to follow the pairing instructions), it re-paired fine, but still no light.

In diode mode, the LEDs all light up when probed so I'm guessing this means the LEDs themselves are OK. I was expecting...

Nikkai EAPA 450 car amplifier rear speaker output is a low level and distorts easily
    by waigy
    As the title.
I think these used to be sold in maplins a lot of years ago, it is an antique, but it's just fine for my needs.
It looks basic enough inside with large components so I could do a full recap pretty easily.
Any suggestions on what component would cause the symptoms of low volume output on both left and right rear speaker outputs?
If I turn up the rear gain level in the amp until the speakers start to distort it starts to distort quickly even though the speakers are still pretty quiet.
I thought I had dodgy speakers as I just fitted new old stock 6x9s in...

    Rear Projector High Voltage Safety
    by GeorgeLG
I am experienced in electronic design and repair, including high voltage tubes (500v) but I will be getting into my first failed television which is a rear projector. I see a lot of info on discharging the tube in a front view CRT but nothing on how to safely discharge the HV in a rear projector with the three CRT guns. Can somebody please point me in the right direction to learn how to safely work on my television (WS-65905)?

    Thank you,

    George
