Samsung PS50C98HD - No picture - Video inside

Got another lovely example of Samsung engineering (that was sarcasm by the way.)

Old 50" 720p chassis; we have one bad cap. This bad cap has caused Y-main to throw a wobbly, blowing 6 FETs and a few resistors up. This has then proceeded to damage the upper Y-buffer.

I have fixed 6 of these crappy Y mains its not the cap that causes it Tom alot of the ones I have done didnt have bad caps. I think that the main point of failure is because they mounted them 5 Igbts on that tiny crappy tiny heatsink. They get very hot them Y mains do and that causes the Igbts to break down and blow on start up always on stary up is what I have found.

Im in the process of restoring a ps50q97hd now im adding fans to the Ymain as im not spending £20 on the fets. Im adding 2x 40mm fans to the heatsinks should help cool them fets make them last longer.
