Im at work again till 5am central time then I'm off for 2 days. Thanks for bearing with me. Ill check it soon as I get home and report back. If there's a list of all the readings I should take let me know and I'll post em. Thanks again

Previous post, I meant 12Vssb instead of 12Vsw. You may as well measure all voltages along each of the connectors in this picture.

Re: Philips 50PF9631D/37 - 6 Red Blinks on Front LED

Okay, I checked all of them there. Basically each pin on the three open connectors (only the two outside ones are actually used...no connector for the middle one) and the dots directly on the board. I got 5.2V from each of the three places that has 5Vstb (2nd & 3rd connector and on board). The rest of them were dead. The only exception to this was on the 1st and 2nd connector. They each have a pin that says STANDBY that would give me a reading of about .03V, the tv would click once, and would light up LED8002 till I removed the meter. I can check the rest of the connectors on the power board if you think this would help or any input would be greatly appreciated.

OK, can you measure STANDBY when the unit is first plugged in? Note any changes in the voltage -- it might spike high briefly for example.

Just remembered I have a service manual for your chassis.

          6 blinks = 5V supply (5Vsw I would guess.)

Re: Philips 50PF9631D/37 - 6 Red Blinks on Front LED

I measured it as I plugged it in and it jumped to .11V from the .03 I was getting before then returned to .03 after a second. I tried a few more time but couldn't get the same result, but if i remove the lead from the pin while it's still on and then put it back on the pin it jumps again...went as far up as .22V after 7 or 8 tries.

OK. Let's try something. Unplug all the connectors on the main board end; leave them plugged into the PSU. On the connector with the pin marked STANDBY, take a 100~470 ohm resistor and connect it between 5Vstby and STANDBY. You may have to buy a resistor or borrow it off a piece of old equipment. If the rails (12Vssb, 8V6 etc) are all still low, repeat with STANDBY to GND. If there are no changes, the power board is at fault.

Thanks. I'll go buy one when the stores open in a few hours and give it a try. I'll let you know when I have it done.

Just did it and attached a picture to check if its right. The only readings I got the first way was 5.2V on the 5Vstby and on STANDBY as well as running accross the resistor. The second time I got 5.2V on 5Vstby and -.02V on VSND_NEG. Not sure what that means

Basically you get 0V no matter what you do. 0.02V positive or negative doesn't matter either way. During this time what voltage do you measure on STANDBY?

5Vstby to STANDBY I get 5.2V on STANDBY, but Ground to STANDBY I get nothing.

Makes sense. Does the relay click when you do this?

OK, so it is receiving power signal and doing something with that. The next step is to check all of the fuses on the power board. If they are OK check the diodes on the secondary of the power supply... If you need help with either of these post back.

All if the fuses are good except for the one I mentioned earlier in the thread that I ordered and immediately blew up on me when I plugged the TV in.

might be wort posting a picture of the fuse location thats blown so we can see the other parts around it also a pic of the other item you say is bulged thanks.

The fuse is on the left hand side of the first picture under the heatsink and the cap that is slightly swollen is on the right hand side of the second picture next to the heatsink. This is the same heatsink, just different sides.

I would suspect IC80(14?) the 8 pin onthe primary.

I can't seem to find that one. I see IC80xx for every number but that one. Fml is there anything else you would recommend doing before ordering a new power board and do you think that would fix it or would I need to get anything else? I may order one soon. Looking at prices now

How much is a power board?
                                          I think it's IC8016.
