    Sony KV_21M1D (BE-4A) image reddish

I checked all the caps and replaced 4 that had higher esr than normal.

I checked for cold solder joints and reflowed when necessary.

I also checked the transistors on the board connected to the neck of the tube and found nothing shorted or open.

Yet, the image is reddish.. I don't know what to look for and I could really use your experience guys.

I have seen this before, I do not repair CRTs, but I believe the tube is ageing, it is repairable though by tweaking the red level down, but I can't remember where that is done.

I believe they usually have potentiometers to change the color levels. Sometimes they are outside of the TV, but most of the times (on more modern CRTs) they are inside, and the TV will have to be opened to do this.

Had a 2005 RCA CRT TV look like that. It's in snow out back now! I tried it during early June, 2012.

        And my cold-power-on test failed!

It would turn off by itself when I turned it on after sitting!

RCA appears to be crap now. I wouldn't be surprised one little bit if their LCDs are even worse!

This is the service manual. I could try to change the red levels from the service menu. Are you sure this is a tube problem?

I was given a TV that also had the same type of problem, even though the blues mostly looked fine, the red seemed to not affect all areas.

I was gonna keep the 2005 RCA CRT TV until I found out that it keeps turning itself off! Just like I pressed the power button!

Appears to be a common RCA problem! Once saw a video with the same type of shut down on YouTube, IIRC!

Turns out that the green color is dead. I think it is the tube. I tried to correct the image through the service menu, but I can't do much... It is blueish or reddish or both. And the only settings that worked gave really dark/fuzzy image. This TV is not fixable.

Sony KV-XJ29M31 CRT TV - Very dim image on turn on
                by Dreamcazman
Hi all, I recently picked up a Sony KV-XJ29M31 CRT TV (BG3R chassis, Australian model) cheaply & completed the RGB mux mod on it for some retro gaming. That worked great, however, I have another problem which I hope someone can help me with or at least steer me in the right direction.

Basically, the issue is when it's cold, it takes a while (like 2 mins) for the picture to come up. I think the image is there, it's just very dark or dim. I can hear the degaussing sound & I can change inputs & hear audio but no image.

Once it's running properly, it keeps...

Sony KD-60X690E 6 Blinks, no image
                by x_orange90_x
I just got this today and it has the infamous 6 blink code. I've read it's quite possibly bad backlights, and I intend to check them soon. However, I was just curious if the Sony logo should it's shouldn't be appearing briefly between powering on and the light starts flashing. I've read at least one other person had the logo flash quickly, but mine does not show anything at all, not even a flicker. The green light comes on and after about 5 seconds the red light flashes. So I'd expect in this 5 seconds to see the logo. This leads me to believe it could be a power supply issue.

                I...

                Sony XBR-55A8G 4K OLED image ghosting/jumping around
                by Cheesesteak
                Hello All,

Hoping one of you wizards might be able to help me, I'm new to TV repair, I'm trying to troubleshoot a ghosting/jumping image on a 4k 55in Sony XBR-55A8G OLED TV.

I have tried re-seating all cables, and lightly manipulating the cables while the TV is on to see if the picture changes with pressure on any of the cables/connectors. I also replaced the TCON board and the ribbon cables connecting the TCON board to the panel, the issue has not changed with the replacements or with any cable manipulation / re-seating.

I saw some people had success...
