Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
Unplug the two large connectors on the top left of the board then power it up again. See if it stays on.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
with both unplugged the Tv stays on! I tested pin 5vctr at 5.2v if I plug in x601 connector then Tv goes to standby and red led lights up. but if i just plug in connector X602 the Tv stays on and I get a picture on half the screen. X601 run over to the right side of tv.. I guess it controls the backlight and the other half of screen?

Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
You have a bad Z-sustain, I suspect.

A plasma panel doesn't have a backlight. It works entirely differently from an LCD. Each pixel independently emits its own light compared to an LCD which uses a uniform light source and blocks/allows through out the light at the pixel level. Please do not PM me with questions! Yeah. That's the Z-sustain. Picture now looks purple, or dim, and/or slow to update, with that board removed? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
Remove the leftmost fuse from this image.
You should still have a dim/blur/ghosty picture but all of it should work now.

Yes, or do the repair in the video if you have the equipment. If you can remove it, soldering a new one on is easy. But not everyone can as it takes a lot of heat. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Note you only need to replace the Z-sustain, the Y-sustain is fine for now. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
I picked up a used sustain board from a television repair shop in town! and I'm happy to say that what's the problem. however I did notice that when the screen is black there are red speckles.. they only show up when there's a black screen other than that works fine. from what I read the voltage needs turn down?

Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
It looks like LG plasma tech... Red sparklies can mean control board needs new firmware but sometimes you can get lucky.
Post a picture of the Y-sustain and power supply so I can highlight the adjustments. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Insignia ns-42pdp no power
OK, first you want to drop Vs slightly.
With the TV running, slowly adjust Vs and measure it with a multimeter. Drop it by about 5V.
If the sparklies do not go away, try "setdn" adjustment -- tweak one way, if it gets worse, go the other way. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!
