U33, U7, U9, and U10 are all suspect. Recheck your readings and see my how to test a voltage regulator document for further explanation.

        Re: p50 hdtv20a

I retested the four suspect regulators and got the same readings. I think this is the confirmation I was looking for.

I'm not sure I have the skill to replace such small components, so i think I will just order the board.

I will post back the results after receiving the board.

        Thanks for all the help

If you look again at your readings, U33 is probably the only potential bad one. The output of U33 is incorrect and in turn becomes the input for U7 and u9. You might as well take a shot at removing U33 only and seeing if that fixes your problem.

For U10, I can't tell 100% if that is good or bad based on the part number you have provided.

I have speculated on this before, but I lack the knowledge and expertise to know for sure.

Either Vizio bought the voltage regulators from the worst manufacturer in the world or the engineers underdesigned the circuitry around the voltage regulator causing it to fail way faster than it should.

                Re: p50 hdtv20a

If only U33 fails, it points to a design flaw -- most likely, the regulator runs far too hot and the inferior regulators they use fail. A good regulator would not fail. However, looking at the amTRAN board design, it looks like it was done really cheaply; by using lots of regulators instead of a few small, efficient, reliably buck converters, to save a few tens of cents.

I have also found a failed regulator on a Samsung LCD t-con, and on the main board in a Bush (Haier) LCD TV.

Monitor Audio RSW12 - Green light, but no sound
                  by MOSSEP
                  Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to give me some idea of what may be wrong with my Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub.

Ive owned it since new in around 2002, so would really like to keep it running if I can, it was the first β€˜decent' bit of audio equipment I ever purchased and is a little sentimental.

The issue I had was that it would power up with the red light, but sometimes the green light would not come on and I would get no bass from it. If the green light did come on though, I would get sound out of it.

I have already tried replacing all of the...

                  by LEECH666
                  Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

                  Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...
