Samsung 46" LCD vertical colored lines

Hello all, I have searched the forum for my problem and while I have found similar problems, I have not found my exact issue.

I have a 46" samsung LCD that has decided it needs irritating vertical lines in multi color and one that is black (which worries me). I have tried re-setting the ribbon between the mother board and the screen which did nothing. Attached is a pic that I hope helps to illustrate my problem.

Please let me know what you guys suggest as a repair while keeping in mind that while I am mechanically inclined, I know very little about TV's

    Thanks all

    Dan

You probably need to replace the LCD screen. But might as well open it up and post clear pictures of the insides.

The power board and the main board at least. Just so by the time the bigger experts come around they'll have something to go off of.

Here are the insides, hope the T-Con board is a part of these pics.

The T-con board is that board between the speakers.

How old is the TV? It is most likely a panel failure due to manufacturing defect. Complaining to Samsung is really your only option.

TV was bought in 2010 and from what I have researched the 08, 09 42" and 46" samsungs were known for this.

Re: Samsung 46" LCD vertical colored lines

                        Under two years is ridiculous.

                        1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864)
                        Mon - Fri: 8am - Midnight (EST)
                        Sat - Sun: 9am - 11pm (EST)

Demand they replace or repair it as you think it is ridiculous for a TV to last "xx" months and you spend $xxx on it and you have lost confidence in the Samsung brand. (Try and go for a store credit or direct refund instead of a replacement -- the replacement will come with 90 day warranty typically, but a store-bought TV would have 12 months minimum.)

It has worked in the past before & it's the only way Samsung will learn they need to stop producing poor quality products.

Good luck. The secret is perseverance.

Oh, and if you do get a store credit, avoid Samsung and get a Sony LCD, Panasonic (LCD or plasma), JVC, Toshiba, or Sharp LCD TV. The last three you need to be careful that you are buying a "genuine" JVC/Toshiba/Sharp as they also sell their name out but this can usually be verified by comparing the system menus and the picture quality, and asking around here if you need advice. Panasonic is my favourite as I consider Sony somewhat evil with their latest business practices, and Panasonic make all of their own stuff including LCD and plasma panels.

In one case, they sued the guy who figured out how to put Linux back on the PS3. There should be nothing inherently wrong with hacking your own hardware, but Sony disagrees.

Looks like I will be getting a "free of charge service". Told them that I own nothing but Samsung for my electronics (I actually own Apple hehehe) and for this TV to only last 29 months is ridiculous, make it right.

Fantastic -- how many operators did it take?

More than likely, technician will come, try swapping t-con, find out it doesn't fix the issue, then authorise you for a new TV. I doubt they'd consider it economical to swap the LCD panel itself.

I got to the last operator and she backed out of the whole deal! So I told her I would take my business to another brand and then told her that Apple never treats me like this... lol

So, what, are they repairing it or not?

Re, the Sony: It's a decent TV. It uses a Samsung display panel, but they're generally pretty reliable (it's quite rare to see LCD failures; everything else on a Samsung dies first.) Obviously, your TV is an exception...

You won't notice the difference between edge LED LCD and CCFL LCD (i.e. "non" LED.) You will likely turn off the Motionflow 240Hz feature, as it makes everything look fake... I did the same with a 100Hz TV I kept. Reliability of edge LED seems poor as they're like christmas lights. One LED dies (there are hundreds) and the whole show goes out. The Smart TV functionality is neat -- but a home theatre PC is more powerful and generally costs less to implement.

May I suggest a decent Panasonic plasma, such as the TC-P46GT30? It'll have much better motion and contrast ratio than any LED LCD. And, it'll cost you less in most cases.

                                          by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                                          Hi,
I have a Samsung 55inch TV (UN55C6400RF). It has started showing colored vertical lines. I have opened the TV and the power board had one pin (out1-) which is discolored (Model # bn44-00358b). Can this be bad or is it the T-Con board (Model # D03464E0J09B6012066). Any recommendations on diagnosing the issue?

                                          Thanks,

I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

                                          Greetings,

I've bought a used Samsung UN65NU6900FXZC LED TV. It worked fine for some time and then developed, at first, a single very thin (1 pixel) vertical stable blue line, from top to bottom, close to the left edge of the screen. Now it's 3 lines on the left. When I connect HDMI sources the number of the thin lines grow. After disconnecting and cold discharging I am back to 2 lines. The lines disappear at a rate of 15-20 minutes per line. So it does not look like a damaged LED panel. Any advice? Thanks...
