    17PW20.1 Vestel problems

From a Sanyo Vestel LCD, me and sienoki trying to debug it.

TV will switch on and off several times with a good picture before giving trouble. If it gives trouble, it will blink the front LED on and off.

Scoped the 24V line and it's got about 1Vp-p of 100Hz on it, sync'd to AC line. It's also making ominous clicking and popping sounds occasionally. So, that looks like a problem. Checked the main cap, just 344V, not 392V like it should be. Boot up self test is a little dodgy - sometimes 24V only reaches 18V, before shooting up to 24V finally.

Need to figure out why the PFC isn't working or we will just replace PSU.

    Re: 17PW20.1 Vestel problems

OK, here's some scope shots of the ripple.

I found that if I disconnected the main load on the TV -- the inverter -- it would work pretty much OK. It only ever had problems if you tried to turn it OFF immediately after turning on. I need to confirm if this is normal behaviour, but it seems like it's just crappy Vestel software crashing. It wouldn't give problems turning on and off multiple times, when it did with the inverter....

AND, the speaker amp is clearly worsening the problem: It has no pop-on protection so makes a loud click through the speakers when turned on. This causes the 12V line to dip to 9V!! I think the combination of the ripple is causing the main board to say enough is enough...

And a shot of the input AC current (no defined scale factor, but it clearly shows no power factor correction...)

Swapped PSU and it runs nicer now...

Still crashes but ONLY if you turn it off immediately after turning it on... otherwise, it works fine. Crappy Vestel firmware I'd bet.

Ripple is a much nicer 450mVp-p (still very high but probably acceptable), at a much higher frequency (not 100Hz.)

Samsung UN50TU8000FXZC shows thin horizontal green line when warm
          by cubytus
          Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

Vestel tv, how to flip the image?
          by France_53
Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...

          Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
          by TrueSword88
          Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

          Hoping to fix...

i verified the driver of the pΓ©ripherals and they are ok. i verified the definition and settings of the graphic card and of the screen : definition 1600x900 and refreshment frequency :60hz. (they are the sames for the graphic card and the screen).
i don't understand the reasons of the white stripe at the bottom of the screen below the task...

Running Line Voltage and Integrating LED Pods - Automotive
          by FALKLAN
Howdy everyone! I hope all is well where ever you are!

I'm attempting to integrate a couple of LED pods into an automotive reverse lamp circuit. The problem being, while the vehicle is running there is a 8.5v current present on the reverse lamp power wire. Needless to say is that all LED pods and lights dimly illuminate while the 8.5v is present, so the LEDs are always powered on while the vehicle is running. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the voltage changes to 12 volts.

I am uncertain how to convert this line into a switched 12v output line for the LED pods....
