    Re: Samsung T220HD Recap

So please confirm that if you hookup a working computer to this monitor, do you see any picture for any time at all?

        Re: Samsung T220HD Recap

I see a very dark shadow of my desktop. I can barely see it but I can make out what is trying to be displayed. It did not flash the correct view of the desktop at any time.

UPDATE: I let the monitor remain plugged in for 10 minutes and then moved the mouse, the desktop flashed for a half second.

UPDATE 2: Same thing after letting sit for another 10 minutes.

Try the ccfl tests at section 5

            b) disconnect all CCFLs expect #1
            c) plug in monitor and turn monitor on - note if "2 seconds to black" occurs
The connections they are talking about are the pink and blue wires that plug in on the side under the metal shield?

Yes. We are trying to see if any of the ccfls are completely broken. If yes, one of them will not light up.

Should I be able to see without disassembling any more than I have? I have done nothing with the panel assembly so far.

If you do the test in a dark room, you should be able to see the ccfl lamp light or not. All you have to do is just unplug the connectors to the ccfl.

Been trying this a past few days and I can't get my monitor to stay on. Is there a trick to it?

It is not meant to stay on, you are only looking to see if each ccfl lights up or not. Please re-read section 5 as I think you are not the idea of the tests.

Alright I finally was able to get some time to work on this. The monitor will only turn on if all 4 lamp wires are plugged in. Is this typical?

Well, no worries if we want to ditch this thread, but one final question if anyone cares to chime in... Is it even worth replacing the CCFLs on a LCD Monitor that might only be worth $100?

Checked ebay for the price of a brand new panel, it is $100+, so I'm going to go for a $30 CCFL replacement. If that doesn't work, I'll scrap it.

What do you mean -Test lamps? Yes you do have to have 4 connected
                                to do the test

I was attempting to see if any one of the CCFLs were bad by plugging in one wire at a time and powering on the display as described in Section 5 of this URL:
                                  https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...6&postcount=20

The display would not power, unless all 4 lamp connectors were connected to the display.

I do not have any test lamps at this time.

The test is only a flash test for each lamp

If one of the CCFLs does not light up, it is likely physically damaged (cracked) or the wiring is completely broken to it. Take out that CCFL and inspect it. If all 4 CCFLs do show "2 seconds to black", one or more can still be bad. This test only discovers a completely dead CCFL or completely broken wiring.

It will still go two secs to black but will reveal a completely dud bulb.

Some members have been able to narrow it down using a "spare" bulb made from a ccfl.

I have a small collection, and the local discount shop sells a 7W CFL for 79p.

So, sounds like I should open it up regardless, inspect the bulbs. Resolder broken wire connections and replace broken bulbs.

I haven't seen any good step by step instructions for my LCD panel, so I guess I will be winging it! It's a Chi Mei M220Z1-L03.

Does the 2nd from the bottom look burnt out to you guys?
