Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
So, sounds like I should open it up regardless, inspect the bulbs. Resolder broken wire connections and replace broken bulbs.
I haven't seen any good step by step instructions for my LCD panel, so I guess I will be winging it! It's a Chi Mei M220Z1-L03.

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
I was attempting to see if any one of the CCFLs were bad by plugging in one wire at a time and powering on the display as described in Section 5 of this URL:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpost.php?p=203726&postcount=20
The display would not power, unless all 4 lamp connectors were connected to the display.
I do not have any test lamps at this time.Re: Samsung T220HD Recap<br /> <br ...on the display

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Checked ebay for the price of a brand new panel, it is $100+, so I'm going to go for a $30 CCFL replacement. If that doesn't work, I'll scrap it.

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Well, no worries if we want to ditch this thread, but one final question if anyone cares to chime in... Is it even worth replacing the CCFLs on a LCD Monitor that might only be worth $100?

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Alright I finally was able to get some time to work on this. The monitor will only turn on if all 4 lamp wires are plugged in. Is this typical?

It's been a month, my apologies, considering the effort you've put in to help me. I am still hoping to resolve this. I will work on it tonight.

Been trying this a past few days and I can't get my monitor to stay on. Is there a trick to it?...

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Should I be able to see without disassembling any more than I have? I have done nothing with the panel assembly so far.

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Just so I have this right, when the procedure says this:
a) TURN POWER OFF and unplug the monitor and wait 1 minute
b) disconnect all CCFLs expect #1
c) plug in monitor and turn monitor on - note if "2 seconds to black" occurs
The connections they are talking about are the pink and blue wires that plug in on the side under the metal shield?Code:Re: Samsung T220HD Recap Just so I have this right, when the procedure says this:
a)

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
I see a very dark shadow of my desktop. I can barely see it but I can make out what is trying to be displayed. It did not flash the correct view of the desktop at any time.
UPDATE: I let the monitor remain plugged in for 10 minutes and then moved the mouse, the desktop flashed for a half second.
UPDATE 2: Same thing after letting sit for another 10 minutes.Last edited by brillman; 09-25-2012, 02:09 PM.

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
1. I read two numbers, but I believe this is the part number: 4506GEH (other number is 820038)
2. S1,G1 | S1,D1 | G1,D1 | S2,G2 | S2,D2 | G2,D2 -- the one thing that was weird was that it appears the D1 and D2 were one large combined contact. There was no distinction between the two that I could tell.
3. FAN7311...

Pin 1 BO IM - 2.36 V
Pin 2 14.5V - 14.81 V
Pin 3,4,5 GND - -0.01 V
Pin 6,7 5.1V - 5.19 V
Pin 8 AD IM - 0.00 V
Pin 9 SW - 4.79 V
How is that looking? Took me a minute to get that thing powered while semi-put together. Let me know, thanks!!

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Again, because I'm new to this, how do I go about turning on the power board without reassembling the monitor? Or is there something I'm not getting about this procedure? Thanks for your help.

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
Firstly, my multimeter is this model:
http://www.iequus.com/Product/3310/Hands-Free-DMM-(10-MegOhm)
Secondly, I think this is the datasheet for the MOSFET's in question:
http://www.datasheetdir.com/AP4506GEH+download
Finally:
Fuse = 0.4 ohms (steady)
MOSFET = 1 on far left side for all connections. Is this right?Re: Samsung T220HD Recap

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
I am a beginner with these types of things. I assume using a multimeter to test, just on the continuity setting? And would I have to take it off the board to test it? Thanks for your help!
EDIT: I tested it on the board and got a tone when testing....

Re: Samsung T220HD Recap
No I did not. Any way to test that without reassembling the whole display?
EDIT: Double checked caps I bought from Digikey, all 4 were Panasonic.Last edited by brillman; 09-14-2012, 05:59 PM.
