    Hitachi 42PD6600

    Hi,

Recently had a fault developing with this plasma (would lose picture but retain sound) and now it's unusable. For a time, the picture would flicker (to a black screen) and now it is black pretty much straight away i.e. no menu no nothing except sound.

Just wondering - I have the chance of the main board, XSUS or YSUS boards at pretty reasonable prices (for one anyway) - and wanted to find if there's a way of diagnosing which board is at fault so I can replace it (it's worth a gamble for the price of one board defo) ? Or in general for this type of fault which board is most likely to be at fault ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Hitachi 42PD6600

    A few things to check:
    - If you have the problem with the TV, does turning it on and off resolve the problem, or does it need several minutes "cooling off" time?
    - Can you see the screen glowing with the fault? You will need to be in a a dark room to see this. If so - it is not the Y-sustain or power supply (it could be the control or main board.) If it is not glowing, it could be the Y-sustain or power supply. In general failure of the Z-sustain causes only picture distortion (purple tint, slow to change typically.)
    - Can you hear a buzzing sound from any board when it fails? If buzzing stops in one board, that board could be at fault.

      Re: Hitachi 42PD6600

Hi this is my first forum visit/post so please be patient/understanding. I have owned an Hitachi 42PD6600 Plasma since 2005 and used it with a Sky+HD box , I left Sky for about a year and have just rejoined, my old Thompson HD+ box would not connect to the TV,"This Display does not support HDCP" message and blue screen , after much negotiation with Sky I got a new Amstrad DRX890 box last week and yes same problem! 3 visits from Sky installers later and still can only connect via Scart, they all say TV problem, maybe new motherboard. They say it's due to Sky updating the HDCP. Has anyone any experience or knowledge of this issue? Anyone got any advice or information on how to cure it? No component out or inputs , no DVI either. If it does mean a new motherboard does anyone know what that's going to cost? Thinking of getting an upscaler from Scart to HDMI off Ebay as cheap short term fix but really would like to sort this out. Any help, advice or information will be gratefully received.

The display is too old to support the pointless encryption Sky uses.

One solution is to use component video, but you will only be able to use 720p and I don't think Sky Movies are supported.

Also, you can get a HDCP stripper, like this, which removes the pointless encryption. One such a device is HDFURY: http://www.hdfury.com/.

          Panasonic SA-MAX770PU SMPSU board fault....
          by Rictech
          Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...

          2007 Macbook logic board fault
          by tony359
          Good day all,

I got a 2007 MacBook from a friend. The fan was not working so it was overheating.
Once the fan was swapped, I installed an OS and it worked fine.

The board had quite a few corroded spots so I removed it, touched those spots with a soldering iron, washed the board in PCB cleaning fluid (I've done that many times), rinsed it with distilled water, dried it etc.

Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore. It does turn on, fan spins, power LED turns on. But no picture.

If I see that right, I have missed VCORE on L7100 (page 59)....

Help finding the correct model of a T-Con board on my Hitachi TV
          by sotodefonk
Hi, I have a Hitachi tv model L47V651, there is no image, but sound and backlights turn on, so I believe the issue is the tcon board.

I opened the tv to access the board and took the shared pictures of the T-Con board.

I saw a video from shopjimmy on how to detect the model number on tcon boards, but this doesn't have a sticker like how that video showed all boards.

I searched the P/N number and got results with the same marking name and P/N my board has but they list other specific tv models like Vizio and Philips brand but not Hitachi.

          Inspecting...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
          by Hakuu
          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...
