    Samsung 52 LN52B550K1F FIRE!!!

Hey All, just yesterday I turned on my TV and smoke , sound and a quick dash to unplug it. Took it apart and found the Rt side inverter connector and board burned up, but this was the part I was stumped with. The FFC from tcon to the display connector had some type of black grease on it and I noticed that the black latch was missing. Now I brought this thing used a while back and had no problem until now. Has anyone ever seen this happen all at once ? I have only taken it apart and have not checked anything else because the FPC connector is hard to find. Seems molex made it and now it is in mass production and this exact one is not available unless you take one off another board .

It looks like it may have got some moisture inside the TV. The high voltage connector may have started with small carbon track first due to moisture or contamination and finally got worst so the high voltage just arch over to the lowest resistance path. You will have make sure to remove any carbon deposit otherwise it will arch over again.

Yeah I did have some white corrosion specs along frame rail on that side of connector, may have gotten wet before I purchased it. Still gonna try to fix it just to see what happens.

So I removed the connector off the board(first pic), but took out 8 of the pad traces with it. so here is what I got in the pics. Does any one know if this board is replaceable ?

It's the panel driver board... no, it's not replaceable. You may be able to replace the FFC connector on it.

I found a connector that will work I just took out 8 of the solder pads when removing it. The traces look so small I don't know if it can be fixed.
            Thanks

It looks like a multilayer board, you may have a lot of difficulty attaching it.

                  Re: Samsung 52 LN52B550K1F FIRE!!!

Hey, hate to bring up an old thread, but I figure since i cant actually make a thread, I'd atleast post to a thread that is dealing with my same TV model. I have a Samsung LN52B550K1F , i was deployed to afghanistan, it worked perfectly fine, was shipped back in a connex, the connex obviously got VERY hot because the back of the tv was a little warped (the plastic backing) the TV turns on, i can hear the start up sound, and i can see a picture with a flashlight, the TV works fine with remote, can go to all menus / volume etc, but no backlight.

I was told to replace the backlight inverter, did with no luck, then i replaced all the capacitors, still no luck. I checked the power outputs on the board and compaired it to what was written for each pin, power voltages match. I've been reading on badcaps about unplugging the mainboard and seeing if the backlight turns on, but i dont think that is possible for me because the power button is connected to the mainboard, so if i disconnect the power supply to it, it obviously wont be able to turn on, am i correct? I've tried to find a PICO fuse, but cant seem to find it, Any suggestions on what to do? I've been troubleshooting this for a few weeks now with no luck.. THANKS!!!

                    Re: Samsung 52 LN52B550K1F FIRE!!!

When you unplug the cable between the main board and the power supply board, the power supply and the backlights circuit will come on right away IF the power supply board has the pull-up resistors for the PS_ON and the BL_ON (INVR_ON) to go HIGH. The PS_ON and the BL_ON signals are generated by the main board and are held low when TV is in standby/ or OFF. they will go HIGH when the power switch is activated.
So what is the P/N of this power supply? BN44-XXXXX?

Some nice pics of the boards from your TV would help get this rolling.
