    Rca 40la45rq / vivo 40" ltv40fhd

Hi everyone, tried searching through the forums but to no avail.

The TV starts up fine and after a few seconds it shuts itself off and the power board clicks constantly. I need to turn the power supply for an hour before i can turn it on again to repeat the same issue.

There were a few bloated 1000uf caps that were only bloated from the bottom and sitting tilted. I replaced those with normal caps, not ESRs. Is that fine?

    Same issue still tho.

    This is the power board.

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, you must use low ESR capacitors - the power supplies' operation cannot be guaranteed with general purpose caps.

Clearly you have not read many of the forums. It is no use what so ever showing a picture of a board on ebay. We need to see pictures of your set and your boards

Post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Just to expand on tom66's commet, the difference between the two could be as much as 10x or an order of magnitude in terms of ohms (i.e. resistance).

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

I know the service manager at Vivo and they have known issues with the Vivo LTV40FHD. serial numbers 120... These have bad caps and the replacements blow after six months. No matter who you bought it from, demand they repair it for free. The power board does not support the panel properly. It will blow up every six months. They try to make you pay to get it repaired but it is a known flaw and should have been recalled. We have reported it to Fair Trading so it is on record but no product recall was ever announced.

It's unlikely Vivo make this TV -- they'll just be contracting it out to another manufacturer. Do you happen to know who that is?

Yes. They had a small factory in China assembling TVs with leftover panels from other manufacturers' runs. You might get 50 units with the same parts in them. Most had different solution boards, power boards and panels. This is why it is so hard to get the universal remote control codes for them!
They seem to have closed down since losing the court case against Tevo and having to change their name to Viano.
