    LG42PC1D maldischarge

Hello. Nice to have the forum back!
Anyway, got a standard IPM failure on Y-SUS board. Had another working board, trimmed the voltages exactly according to panel spec.
But, I can't get rid of the sparkles. It's quite excessive over entire screen.
Even tried to adjust Setdown and Setup pots, which made a little good, but far away from acceptable screen.
This kind of problem can't be elsewhere than Y-SUS right?
How to get rid of the sparkles?

Firmware upgrade of the control board (not the main board) is required. A user on these forums does it for a small fee, however results aren't guaranteed.

Even if the Y-SUS boards are identical and uses exact same IPM?

It's due to panel aging. Adjustments can only fix it slightly.

But the sparkles were not present hours before the IPM failure. What is the main reason for the sparkles?

Inability for the PDP drive to clear the wall charge built up by previous images, due to panel aging. That's why they typically follow motion.

              Re: LG42PC1D maldischarge

I had another logic board with same partnumber, except for rev.C instead of rev.B of original board. I was hoping LG may had an upgraded firmware in that board, eventually solving the "sparkling" issue, but it didn't do any difference at all.
I think this will be it with this set - get ready for scrapping!

Sell it on eBay. Some technicians have the kit to repair them.

I've made a note not to collect any older LG plasmas. Too difficult to fix the maldischarge, and they all have it.

Panasonic P42S30 Plasma - Pink sparkles
                  by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

Help repair this relic? Philips 42PF7220A/37, pulsing buzz from YSUS
                  by Truncatedhose
                  Greetings all!

Originally this set had the usual messed up video symptoms such as: horizontal lines, weak, grainy video, bottom and top of picture differ in intensity of problem. It also seemed to slow to turn on or show the messed up picture.

Seemed like must be YScan/buffer board failure. Ordered buffer boards from my distributor which were supposed to be original/new and also from another distributor, I ordered the YSUS because I wanted to replace it for preventative maintenance. (also, the YSUS had a bulged cap, so there was even more reason to suspect it could...

                  Hi
                  Had shorted YSUS

                  Q24 RPJ63F3
                  C726 cap
                  Q11 K3667
                  R528 & R529 2.2 ohm

replaced all of these but still trips psu VS & VA are a bit low when ysus disconnected. IC301 does look a bit burnt however

ZSUS is also good as far as I can tell

Anyone could help me out on this one

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
                  by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
                  All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

                  LG 42Pj350 ysus maldischarge
                  by Farasa
                  Need assistance please

I recently got in Lg 42pj350 with the usual y-sus problem, found four Igbts shorted 30f124 & 30J124 repalaced those refreshed the board then I examined the Z-sus board,to find the coil had dry joints..re-soldered most of that board...it came on nice, tested it for couple of hours

I released it to the client,it came back five days later,I found all the Igbts I replaced before shorted with the addition of two fets...I replaced all these checked the board again, replaced it...now I have mal discharge ...what else can I do thanks in advance
