hello.
i have in my hands an old tv set a 2006 Funai 20" 3:4 lcd.
it had been opened before but not repaired from other technicians.
the symptoms:
the tv turned on, normal, but i could distinguish a dimmed 1/3 horizontal middle section. despite this, the tv worked well for 4 seconds. then it dimmed for one second and then TOTALLY off. not just the backlight, but the whole set.
supposing...
i supposed (without opening) there were 3 pair of CCFLs/transformers/FETs and one pair was faulty (since 1/3 of the screen was not backlited).
tested:
the inverter board and the main board had the (-) ground, the +22V and a third ON wire. voltages all ok.
i disconnected the third wire and guess what, the set was not put in stand by any more. the backlight was ON, although dimmed but the 4 seconds to off problem was not there. so, i have a problem with the backlighting which as the third wire reports.
BUT, another problem happened. the image was not ok.
it is splitted by a vertcal stripe. reseating the ribbond did not help.
now, i am not willing to troubleshoot the backlight problem if this stripe thing is serious. voltages on the t-con seemed ok.
is it an aging lcd?
was a coincidence that happened just when i disconnected the communication wire between the inverter board an the main board?
any ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
thank you.
