    Toshiba 36ZP46P no blue colour

    Hi

I have a Toshiba tv 36ZP46P the problem I have is the blue colour has gone, if I watch snooker the blue ball looks green and the picture looks yellow
other than that the picture is good (no spiking)

I had the Scan Converter Module replaced by Toshiba about 4 years ago free of charge (bottom half of picture was spiking from left to right )

anyone help would be much appreciated

Re: Toshiba 36ZP46P no blue colour

I dont have any experience with DLP's but from what i do know there is a color wheel that spins really quickly, and at any 1 time the tv will use the dlp chip to reflect all the red, then all the green, or whatever.

A common failure for these is the color wheel will stop spinning (maybe yours is stuck somewhere between red and green).

Another comon failure is that heat will warp the parts, harder for me to imagine this causing only 1 color to go away though, but if you disassembled the tv you could check for any warpage that might be causing the blue part of the color wheel to not work.

The third thing to consider is the bulbs go bad and will change color (i wouldnt guess they would totaly loose a color though). Also if the bulb compleatly blows out it will cover parts (and possibly the part of the color wheel that was turned towards the bulb at the moment), with powder. So was the bulb recently replaced after compleatly failing.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

Few members on here deal with CRT Tvs on a regular basis. I have read on the internet that their could be a problem with a chip which might be numbered TDA107Q as it controls the colours. If you download the datasheet for that it will tell you a bit more and might enable you test it.
First find the chip or a similar one and see if it was faulty is there anywhere you can buy a replacement?
        Prognosis does not look good.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair
