    Generic question

How long will the capacitors in Plasma TVs hold a charge?

How long will they be dangerous for?

Ive read everywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours.

Ive never mess with buffer boards before so I just want to be sure.

    Thanks Dustin

Any place to tie in a light and drain all of the capacitors?

It varies, but in most modern TV's the large capacitor will go to 0V DC in a few minutes.

If you are unsure, use a multimeter with aligator clips to monitor.

        Re: Generic question

Usually nearly every switch mode PSU has at least one or more resistors going across line to neutral and/or across the positive and negative terminals to bleed down the primary high voltage caps to safe levels within less than a minute.

And when I say usually I mean 99.5% of them.
