Most TVs will still enter a service menu or mode with half-uploaded firmware. On most Samsung TVs it is Info-Menu-Mute-Power (while in standby mode) to enter the service menu. This must be done using the remote control.
From there you will probably be able to do a factory reset and re-upload the firmware.

Thank you, but the problem is that the person got this firmware from a service tech and it's not available online from Samsung. So I wouldn't have the original firmware to re flash it.
I think I will just have to let this one go.
Yeah, the only fix then would be a new main board, which will probably cost more than the TV is worth.

I couldnt imagine you would need an identical firmware to the one that already failed, if you can download any firmware for that model on samsungs site it would probably accept it to replace the half uploaded one.
I cant imagine it trys to resume its progress from the failed one, would be 10x smarter for it to just replace the whole thing again.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.
The seller mentioned that he is on that forum and most likely that firmware is what he used and screwed up his TV.
I just wanted to know what can be done in a case like this, I don't have the TV. It was on craigslist and I didn't know if it's worth getting it or not.
Thank you all.
no official firmware available here http://www.samsung.com/us/support/ow...duct/LN-S4095D
it was probably flashed with the "next model up" to get better features etc and whoever managed to dump the firmware and do a modded version didnt realise a difference in hardware thats why its a brick, samsung will probably reflash it but you will need to get it to the nearest service department with all that will cost more than a new set, maybe it will be easier to see if you can get a new/refurb control board with the correct firmware, you will still need to get a service manual to get into service setup to calibrate it.
Not sure why tom said it would cost more for the mainboard then the set is worth. You can often find most boards under 30 on ebay if you watch it for a few weeks.
