Some resistors have a colour code printed on them which encodes the value - does yours?

all i can see on the resistor is the type that i have specified and its in red pal if that helps

@Tom66 - hi - it is a ceramic pot with fuse/resistor and thermal break inside.
see the pdf linked in earlier post. I cant actually find one to buy. What could he use instead - a quickblow ceramic fuse? fusible resistor? They cant have a very high opinion of their boards if they think it is going to overheat to that extent?

looking at the the pdf table Rated power by combination of Thermal fuse with mine saying RGDU5M-5E could i use a 2.8W

I can't read the resistor value but my guess is 1.8 ohms. It is a fusible resistor; the exact value should not be crucial.

According to the table in the pdf the 5E is 2.8 watts
