Samsung HP-R4272C Plasma Vertical Dead Band

A friend asked me to look at his plasma that recently has a dead vertical band. Based on Wizard's comments in other plasma posts vertical bands like this usually mean a dead panel but I wanted to be sure. There are no obvious issues with caps. Attached are two pictures...one of the overall panel in the menu and one which is a close up of the dead band showing another distorted vertical band beside the dead one. I'm not sure if this info is useful but wanted to add it in case it pointed towards a fault that makes the panel salvageable.

Since the line next to it is scrambled, most likely a bad panel, but try removing the X driver FFCs, in rare cases it can be a cold joint or a bad resistor.
