Samsung LED tv UN46C8000 no picture

    Hello,

I have bought Samsung LED tv UN46C8000 about 1.5 years ago. No picture, but sound problem. Menu also does not show up.
I have checked there is back light.

I read in this forum that a capacitor or fuse must be replaced for a different model. I took a look to capacitors, they look OK. None of them has a blown top. I was unable to locate a few fuses, measured voltage by millimeter, they also look fine.

Any ideas how to fix this problem?

    Thanks.
    Alex.

I suggest you read this, especially the section on posting.

I suspect there is a problem with the main board or the tcon.

      Hi PlainBill,

Thank you for your response. I do not see any violation of posting rules. There were posts on the same problem but for different models. This model's t-con and pcb look completely different that is why I did it as a different post.

Could you please let me know how can I figure out which board has a problem?

      Thanks in advance.
      Alex.

Correction to the original post:I was unable must be read as I was able.

Here are pictures of three boards.

        Thanks.

Did you measure the SMD fuses on the tcon board? A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 ohms.

When you say "but sound problem" do you mean you have no sound or not?

              retiredcaps,
I am not sure what are smd fuses? I located F1 and F2 fuses on the top of tcon board(2nd pic) and measured voltage on both ends. Both voltages were the same.

              tom66,
When I connect to dvd player I have clear sound, but with tv channels no sound.

Appreciate any help on figuring out this issue.

              Thanks.
              Alex.

That's strange. Sounds more like a main board problem than a T-con problem.

If the voltage relative to the metal frame of the TV measures the same on both sides, the fuses are very likely good but just to make sure do an ohmmeter test on them while the TV is off. You are looking for a fuse in the range of about 0-2 ohms, depending on the zero-offset of your multimeter. Don't confuse "1 ." with a 1 ohm measurement; you should see "1.0" for for a 1 ohm measurement. (Some multimeters do this.)

                  Hello,

I have a digital multimeter, that can measure everything. I measured smd fuse resistance on psb and t-con a (1st nd and 2nd brds), with tv turned off. All of them showed 0 ohm. I also measured capacitance on psb(1st brd) of big black capacitors. Multimeter showed 0, 3 and then 83 mF on all of them, although I see 12mF is written on them.

                  Thanks.

I do not see anything labeled with F on the main board (3rd pic). I see a lot of small parts which looks like a fuse but they are labeled with C.

                    Thanks,
                    Alex.

Today, I measured voltage on the black element labeled B116 next to F2 fuse on t-con(2nd brd). On its top, voltage was 12.5V on the bottom only 1.5mV.

Any idea what this element is for?

                      Thanks,
                      Alex.

That's a strange reading. Typically "B" means ferrite bead - its job is to filter noise from the power supply or other parts of the T-con. If it's open circuit, it could explain your problem. Turn the TV off, then use the ohmmeter setting on the 200 ohm range to measure its resistance and report back the value.

I measured its resistance and it showed 1.9 kOhm.

Sorry, for confusion, the element actually is labelled as D116 not B116.

                          Thanks.
