Samsung HP-R4252 42" Plasma No Picture

No picture symptom on this plasma TV suggested a problem with Y-sustain board and Y-buffers. It features problematic LJ92-01203A / LJ41-02761A and LJ92-01202A / LJ41-02760A with 6 ICs. I checked out Coppell Repair Blogs and some threads here, that helped me to identify shorted buffer and a shorted power FET.

I replaced a shorted lower buffer and one bad IXTA36N30P power fet under the heat sink on the Y-sustain board.

The TV still powers up and stays on with NO picture. I even tried connecting one buffer at a time - no half picture. Checked the voltages, Vscan is present and stable with Y-sustain connected or disconnected. Nothing is getting hot, both Y-sus and Z-sus are making a normal "hum". Ve for Z-sustain present and stable.

I checked the Y-sustain board's main IC - no shorts. The fuse was also fine.
Output voltages to Y-buffers are around -71V.

Looks like something else might go bad on Y-sustain board. Any ideas?

    All suggestions very appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rob

Forget about it. That -71 volts indicates there is another problem. As indicated, these are problematic. By the time you replace all buffer ICs and the Y-sustain you have spent the major part of the cost of a new 42" plasma TV.

Re: Samsung HP-R4252 42" Plasma No Picture

Well, I was lucky to get a replacement lower Y-buffer board from E-bay for $ 36.00, shipping included. The upper buffer tests okay.

So the only problem seems to somewhere on Y-sustain board. I replaced the shorted FET and the main IC tested okay. What else does usually go bad on this board? How can I test the board to make sure, the problem is not somewhere else? Too bad I don't have a similar, working TV to test the boards.... :-(

      Thanks,
      Rob

This is, how I tested the main Y-sus IC:

My IC passed all tests okay.

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
          by TR103
          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
          - sound and backlight, but no picture
          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
          - it keeps rebooting
          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
          by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

          Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
          by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

          Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
