    Samsung LNT4669F

Not to torture myself or anything but I just bought a new LCD TV a couple months months ago to replace a Samsung LNT4669F that had gone wonky. What had happened was that suddenly the TV had started displaying horizontal flicker lines, through out the screen.

Not knowing about this great site at that time I called a repairman who diagnosed it as a problem with the Tcon and quoted me $700 to fix it, I discarded it and bought a new tv for $1200

Now I wonder if it could have been bad caps and I could have fixed it myself...

could flickering lines (and some bad color) throughout the screen indicate bad caps?

You can do a visual inspection for busted/swollen caps, but that's not going to find all bad caps. Be sure to use low ESR caps if you find any that need replaced. There's an FAQ on this.

However, it does sound more like a tcon problem. Looks like you may be able to order one for under $100. Get the part number off the board then look around for an exact match.

Also, does it exhibit these symptoms on all inputs?
