Samsung 42" Goes To Black

Have a Samsung 42" that turns off after a couple of minutes. The lamp starts to flicker before it turns off. Traced the lamp to two 820uf 250v Capxon caps (included the pics). They did not look bad however after reading a post here, decided to replace them. The have a very strong smell at the base so I suspect they started to leak. They are rated for 85° C so am buying Panasonic 105° C. Maybe the bad rap Capxon is getting lays on the manufacturer of the TV that uses the weaker component because it's cheaper. Also they are rated in hours of operation like light bulbs so they are not intended to last forever... Thanks for your helpful posts!!

I've seen a 200V primary filter in a Kortek arcade monitor leak at the bottom without any bulge at the top.
Most LCD and plasma TVs and monitors can get rather hot inside, especially if ventilation is poorly designed.

The hours in the data sheet is not expected hours of operation.

The short explanation is the 'hours' is how long you can max out every spec [abuse the cap] and -NOT- cause any damage to the cap.

Caps are never operated under those extreme conditions in real world applications.

No manufacturer I know of makes any straight forward claims as to how long their caps are expected to last.
