    Sony KDL-32S3000 Six Blinks

Sony KDL-32S3000 Back light tries a couple of times then shuts down with 6 red blinks all voltages seem to be good from the power supply.
Has any one had this with this model?
I think it may be the cf lamps no good. Any help on how to test individual cf lamps would be appreciated.

    Thank you

One source said that was an inverter error. Here's the service manual. You can check it out for yourself.

If you require further assistance, I suggest following the links in my signature for information on attaching pictures. Attach (don't post inline) a good picture of the inside of the TV.

Did you check the fuse on the inverter? If that's good, how about some decent pictures of the inverter. One over-all shot of the top with the output connectors to the top of the picture, a second of the back, and one of the top showing the input connector.

            Thanks. Good pictures.

There are three fuses on this board, they are circled in red in the attached picture. Measure the resistance across each of them using the 200 ohm scale on your DMM.

There are two ICs circled in yellow. What are the part numbers?

Check the inverter transformers. Do resistance checks on the primary and secondary windings. They should all be the same. These transformers can fail, and can be bought in singles and replaced also. As for the lamps, the only way I know of is to disassemble the panel and look at the lamps as they light up, the bad one will not light up. Replace the bad lamp if found.

Three fuse is good. IC on left 339 top line, 2nd line EZ2J703. the numbers on the right is oz9541sn.
Back light tries to come on then off, then shuts down with 6 red blinks.
Tried connect each of the 8 cf lamp, same thing, light tries to turn on then off, six red blinks.
Before the back light is on completely, protection mode kicks in then shuts down with 6 red blinks.

What is the possibility that the protection circuit on the power supply has problem. There is a pot to adjust, but there is no information on the service manual.

I had a similar problem about a year ago, and tore out a lot of hair trying to solve it. By all appearances the inverter was not turning on. When I finally got my act together, I realized the inverter WAS turning on, detecting a problem, and shutting down immediately. That inverter was made by Darfon.

By the part number, this inverter was also made by Darfon. For whatever reason, Darfon uses a very short timeout on their inverters. The inverter is turning on, it detects a fault condition, turns off the CCFLs, and sends an error signal to the main board.

I suggest following Hobby1's advice. It will be difficult to check the resistance of the primaries, so check the resistance of the secondaries first.
