Just what I was thinking! Assuming it is that new, then I can maybe learn something and/or not loose too much parting it out. Will find out tomorrow....

its got more than $40 worth of parts if its that new.
Sorry, missed that question. He says its one half....I assumed it was straight but honestly didn't ask. He's out of town, so the text replies to my email are short. I gather that the angle choice would be much worse?

angled or zigzag or funny is a cracked panel mostly. The 1/2 can be as simple as a cable or small problem, or could become a major issue. If it's $40, I would pick it up. It's got more than that in parts easily.

Some poor father paid $800 for a new LG 50 inch plasma and it only lasted 4 hours before his daughter put a wii controller into the screen and shattered it.

He is trying to sell the busted screen LG on kijiji now.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

I'm new to the whole plasma scene....is there anything worth having on a physically damaged screen, or is he just dreaming?

The good news: I get to part out an 8 month old 42" LG 1080p.

The bad news: the supposed "half screen" is actually totally smashed in several locations.

Lessons learned: Take my UPS to test the unit in the parking lot. Sigh.

Hi. This is probably the wrong thread but maybe someone can point me in the right direction... I have a HP pl5060n and a few months ago the picture messed up on it. It had a vertical white bar down the center of a blue screen and when I disconnected the lower y-buffer,half of the picture would come in crystal clear so I replaced that board and it seemed fine for about a month and a half and the same problem occurred. I replaced the same board, the lower Y-buffer board and again it seemed to be working great.... For a couple of weeks and it started randomly going black and flickering/flashing white. This began happening more and more frequently and each time it lasted a little longer until last night. Last night I had been watching tv for about 20minutes when the screen went black and started flickering again, so I turned it off and back on and it immediately went to a black screen flashing white. The longer I left the power on the more the images showed through(they kinda looked like a negative). Never lost sound and the power button blinks blue and purple.
                What is the issue?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
