i have tried but cannot keep trace im afraid it must be a guessing game of trial and error
best i can do dunno how to test this thing
the black thing appears to be an smd transistor but i need to go to bed i gotta b up in 5 hrs for work b home at 7pm eastern time if u can tell me how to test i will do it when i get home board is no longer in tv and i only have a dmm for testing

WOOHOO, I got ZEUS to work after lots of research, I had to install AKAMAI NETSESSION first before installing the AUTODESK Design Review so I will not get the VISUAL STUDIO error.
So here is the +12VLCD circuit, check the DE90, DE91.

Yes, they are Diodes as shown in the diagram. I cannot tell if they are SMD type or through hole, you just have to lift up one leg and then see if the shorts is gone.
Yes, we have to remove the suspect component to locate the shorts, there are only 3 Semiconductors in that section, the two Diodes and the SMPS IC, and 2 Ceramic caps CE92, CE901 in which they will fail in shorted mode.
DE90 is part of buck converter, the IC will be damaged if it operates without that diode (the substrate of the IC will become the diode which will be bad for it.)

ok so what is the smps ic? where is it located? there is a 8 pin ic on top and a 16 pin ic on the bottom problem is i dont have my rework station yet it wont b here till tuesday all i have is 2 soldering irons
