    SONY Bravia KLV-32s200a MultiSystem Problem

I have the above type of T.V. that was purchased in Thailand and used there for 3 years. Since the manual and information I saw said it was multi-system compatible, I shipped it to Costa Rica where I have tried to use it. I get a picture, but I do not get any sound. I have searched the menus, but I can't find anything suggesting I need to change settings for it to work here.

The VHF/UHF connector on the T.V. is the Asian style connector, but in Costa Rica, they use North American coaxial cable. I purchased a simple cable plug adapter at radio shack.

Do I need some other cable adapter that connects the coaxial to the T.V. or is there a setting change I need to make on the T.V.?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

test your tv out with a DVD or VHS player, if there's still no sound then the only think I can think of is a cold solder that is now causing problems due to an altitude change.

I have been using the T.V. with a DVD player since it arrived in Costa Rica without any sound problems, so that does not appear to be the issue.

I tried to set it up again just after posting and I notice I get sound on 2 channels, but not the other 60 channels or so.

I did the auto scan. It looked for VHF Low, High and UHF channels. Not sure what you mean by digital beyond that. Also not sure what a sap setting is and where I might find that.

SAP = Secondary Audio Program. Check the sound menus for the settings. The TV may be set to use the audio on the secondary audio channel.

Unless I'm missing it somewhere, there is no SAP option. I even tried to reset manufacturer settings. I get sound on 3 channels and no sound on over 60 channels.

Well, I just went to Sony's support page for that model and downloaded the manual. It definitely has SAP capability, unfortunately I can't read much of the manual.

I also went to the support page, but the model they show has manuals for Latin America, U.S. and Canada. I bought the T.V. in Thailand 3 years ago. The Thai support site no longer has the model listed for support.

Okay. I've finally found my manual (misplaced after the move). I looked at it, and now I've figured out that the sound problem may be due to a weak signal from the coaxial cable. That is why I don't get an SAP option right now. It appears that a weak signal only allows mono output and doesn't give me choices.

My landlady is planning to replace the cable wire, so I will report back if this solves the problem.

                    Thanks for the advice.
