    Megmeet MLT666T lcd smps

    Hi All,

I have an old 2006 ish TV that after the last storm we had would fail to come out of standby. We had a few outages on off on off etc

I am only repairing this as a challenge and to improve my skills.

Firstly I would like to mention I am no stranger to working with high voltages and understand the dangers of the high voltages present in SMPS, I have repaired a few before but this one is a little more challenging.

The board is a Megmeet MLT666T REV: 1.2a

The symptoms. TV has standby power, when turned on the power led will go green - no back light / picture or sound.

With the power supply out of the TV and powered up with the PS-ON with the +5VSB connected
I am seeing the 12v and 24v come up for around 500us then then it goes to nearly zero. (as seen in the oscilloscope screen shot) the top trace is the 5v sb power

I am also seeing the Resistors r80 r78 - r84 (around that area) are generating some heat (with a thermal camera) the area is around 40c ,
I have replaced Q7 thinking there may have been something wrong with the feedback circuit (also close to these resistors getting warm)
The opto couplers look ok (with the curve tracer (component tester and cro))

So far I have tested the TO220 style diodes and transistors on the primary and secondary.
I removed and tested the diodes on the secondary. All looks good there.

I have looked at the SMD caps near the drivers on the primary for shorts.

I see no bulging capacitors a bit of a probe around (only with a dmm set to capacitance at this stage shows things (at least in circuit) aren't too bad.

There is a lot of capacitors secondary. I have an LCR meter. Not yet been down that path.

I guess lots still to check however any pointers would be fantastic

    Kind regards
    Jordan

It is usually the small electrolytics that go bad, Also check the voltage across the main filter cap, the voltage should be around 300vdc in standby and rise to 385vdc when on if the pfc circuit is working.
You can also check the voltage on Q6,(using hot ground) this transistor switches and also regulates the VCC1 voltage to the 24volt circuit drive ic (the collector is input voltage supplied by the standby circuit, the emitter is the output voltage. Z1 is on the base and sets the regulated voltage, P2 opto, turns the transistor on/off
I would replace EC3 and EC4 to start with.

Hi R_J I managed to get the supply working. Thank you once again for your help.
The issues turned out to be C16 and P4 opto coupler

        Kind regards Jordan

          Mackie Th15 SMPS low Vout
          by madan1
          Hello,
I'm troubleshooting a PA speaker Mackie Th15 (schematics attached).
It is basically a smps with amp and some dsp.
The issue is that on the secondary side I read +/- ~23V instead of the expected +/- 38V. Indeed all secondary side and feedback/aux rails are like 1/2-3/5 of the expected values.
Q2, Q3, C35, C40, C33, C36, C41 and C42 were tested out of circuit with a component tester and read fine. Most of the other components on the primary were tested in circuit and seem to be fine. +HV to -HV on primary is ~330V.
By the way, the ferrite core of L10 is broken,...

Fixing the Charge Circuit of the Batteries of the DC Motor
          by Astonished
          Hi friends of electronics

What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.

The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.

Please help me fix this circuit.

Lenovo L490 Ram voltage circuit malfunction
          by rddube
          Hello friends,

Looking for some guidance here. The RAM voltage circuit on this motherboard keeps burning out PU301 which is a RT8231AGQW. Copy of the board with the burnt chip attached with some voltage measurements and copy of the schematics also included.

I think I've checked almost every component in the circuit, but when I change the RT8231, the laptop starts I have 1.2V on the inductor for about 10 seconds and then the RT8231 goes south and no more voltage on the inductor. All other voltages on the laptop are good, this is the only one conking out for a reason I...

          Short Circuit tester
          by Tarot Superstars
          Hello.
I have seen a short circuit tester made with 3 * 9V batteries, a voltage limiter component and a resistor connected to the probes of a multimeter.
The theory is that the meter becomes sensitive enough to read very low resistances and the lowest resistance to ground on a circuit is likely to be a short circuit in that area.

MSI B250 Gaming M3 Short circuit in CPU power supply circuit
          by M1NEBLANK SHOW
Hello. MSI B250 Gaming M3 board, short-circuit on the power supply. Found a problematic mosfet VQ1
(N-PK616BA_PDFN8-HF) soldered it out - short circuit is gone. I replaced VQ1 + VQ5 (N-PK632BA_PDFN8-HF). VQ1 was replaced with PK618. After starting attempt VQ1 is lit again. What can be the problem? In the driver?
