    car jump pack build lipo

    just had a brainwave .
i have here a good set of 18650 cells from a 36v pack . and am wondering how easy and if it will work to be arranged for a 12v jump pack for cars etc . .
just wondering about charging it .. i know it will need the correct bms . its the charger bit i am stuck on .. will a linear charger work ?

Re: car jump pack build lipo

Was wondering about those jump packs. While I can't say it's impossible to direct start a car starter with a pack "big enough"...I'd say one would need some 100 odd 18650s to do it safely, and end up wasting a lot of reserve...

Or is it simply a large enough pack to provide enough juice to charge the lead acid pack...

Think the latter is a lot easier.

Anyway... it depends on the BMS whether you can just randomly charge it with whatever charger you have. Main issue is that probably 3S is too little, 4S is too much, you need a converter to get to 14.4V and...

I've used one to start a completely flat 3.0L v6 Tiguan.
It has 6 or 8 cells inside and a boat load of diodes.

would be interesting to know if it was 6 or 8...?
I suppose depending on the cells, 4P should supply enough current to direct start a car, just not through the cigarette lighter.

          NTE Electronics “NTE5251K” Zener Diode 9.1V @ 50W Do-5.5% Want to build a 9.1 output from a 9.6 lipo4 battery pack
          by sam_sam_sam
I have bought this Zener Diode for this project what size and wattage resistor value do I need to use to get near 50 watt output
I bought this from an eBay seller but unfortunately they only had one

I bought three from Vetco Electronics these are Sylvania ECG5185A 9.1@10w A to Stud what size and watt resistor do I need to use to get near 10 watt output
I bought three of from them to also make battery packs with this output power limit in mind

I want to use this battery pack and turn it into a 9.1 output battery pack output to eliminate using 9 volt battery...

Bauer tool battery pack charging with a HERCULES charger modification
          by sam_sam_sam
The Bauer power tool battery charger just has to many issues with the charger over heating because I several HERCULES Hercules battery chargers that are 3 amp charge and because they have gone on quite a few times over the years before they came out with the fan cooling battery charger I going to modify one so I can charge Bauer battery packs faster than the crape battery charger that they have

Here is how this modification is going to be done I taking a 1.5 amp hour battery enclosure and gutting it removing the battery cells and replacing some Ryobi 1.5 amp hour battery pack that...

ASUS X54H laptop thinks it's always charging even with charger unplugged
          by flat-earther
The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.

Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.

This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.
If I let battery run out and say it has 3% Windows will...

Ryobi 36V (aka 40V) 6Ah Faulty Battery Pack
          by brispuss
Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

Milwaukee M18 HD12.0 (12 amp hour battery pack) unbalanced failure charger refusing
          by sam_sam_sam
I have two Milwaukee 12 amp hours battery packs that have an issue with battery cells very unbalanced these are probably over 4 years old and been heavily used in the past but now get occasionally used heavily and when I went to use the grinder tool the battery lost battery battery power very quickly so I decided to open it up and found some battery cells voltage from 3.6 to 4.1 no wonder the battery charger was not fully charging them 3 out of 4 LEDs were on meaning that it was only 75% charged

So I have put them on the battery testing machine to drain each battery cell down to...
