Minka-Aire Concept II Ceiling Fan Received / Power Supply Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a Minka-Aire Concept II ceiling fan and the other day the light stopped working...but the fan till worked. I measured the voltage at the light socket and it was 9.5v. I took the fan down and bypassed the receiver with 120v and the light worked fine so I knew it was the receiver / power supply. The blue wire is the output for the light and when measured on the board I got 9.5v as well. Minka-Aire of course recommended I buy a new receiver so I did and its working fine now but I would really like to know if I could have troubleshot this device and found the defective part and fixed it. Here is a picture of the insides. Any recommendations on what I could test to find the bad component?

    Thanks, Andy

is it a dimmer or just switching the lamps?
and does it have parts on the other side of the board?

It is a dimmer as well and the other side of the board looks like this. Before I replaced it I put in an LED bulb and the remote switch worked so I could power the light off and when powered on (with only 9.5v) I got a very dim light...

Hi, Can we use SMPS Bench Power Supply for Laptop troubleshooting?
          by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

          >>> Troubleshooting Delta Power MAX 500ATX ATX power supply
          by dragon3x
Hi, this is for troubleshooting and, hopefully, repairing a Delta Power psu
that is still quite new, as it worked OK for some months until it failed.
At the time I was not into power supply electronics; it was put
aside and a new power supply installed inside the computer. Also at the time
power supplies were half the price of today's.

On the PCB there are a D339 and 7500B chips.

I have found that schematics with these 2 chips (see included file).
Does it represent the actual circuit of the MAX-500ATX, I cannot tell.

          Some measurements,...

Samsung UN75J6300AFXZA LCD TV Power Supply Troubleshooting
          by MtnManMike
          Hello,

I'm hoping to get some help figuring out how to troubleshoot this power supply board. The television is a Samsung UN75J6300AFXZA, version no. UH03. The power supply board has two model numbers on it, L75S1 and BN44-00723C. As far as experience level, I'm familiar with recapping boards in terms of safely going through the soldering motions, choosing suitable replacement parts, and so forth, but as far as understanding the various functions of each part of these TV power supply boards, I am a rank beginner.

When I plug the TV in, the screen flashes on and off and...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...
