MPJA 10 AMP @ 0 to 30 Volts Switching Power Supply Cap Fault

I have this 10 amp 0 to 30 volt switching power supply that decided to have a 630 milliamperes draw on it at 0 volts

I open it up to find non brands name capacitors in it

I am not sure how this switching power supply is set up

Could someone please explain how this power supply works

Here is the capacitor ESR results

    (1) 47uf@50 volts 0.46
    (2) 47uf@50 volts 0.45
    New 47uf@50 volts 0.35

    (1) 100uf@25 volts 0.34
    (2) 100uf@25 volts 0.35
    New 120uf@50 volts 0.08

    (1) 220@25 volts 0.13
    (2) 220@25 volts 0.13
    New 220@35 volts 0.03

    (1) 1000@35 volts 0.03
    (2) 1000@35 volts 0.03
    New 1000@35 volts 0.02

    interesting.
    see the current shunt coil?
it connects to the small board - i suspect the 2 ends feed an op-amp to monitor the voltage drop.

btw, the internal tactile switch is just asking to be pressed!! they should have painted it red!

      Yes
I wonder about that button as well just what does it do

The button does not seem to do anything at all but there is another connector that might be how you program the controller but this is only a guess

On the small board the small IC chip is a LM 358

The switching power supply is back working again
The only problem this power supply has is that it has to be ON a little while for the voltage to stabilize it drift a little bit a couple hundredth of a volt for first 5 minuets or so and then it fine

But it has done this when I first turn ON new out of the box

        I used the following caps
        KY
        KZE —> maybe
        LXZ

12 volt switching power supply modification to 14.5 volts before blocking diode add
          by sam_sam_sam
I saw this switching power supply on eBay and wanted to see if could be modified to run 14.5 volts before the blocking diode was add and this switching power supply seems to have no issues doing this

I did recap the switching power supply except the the main filtering capacitors and I managed to break the selector switch for the voltage setting but just jumped it

One note I used 25 volt capacitors on the output side of this power supply because they used 16 volt capacitors and because I am running the voltage up a little bit higher 12 volts to 14.5 volts there would...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

DVR camera recorder switching power supply capacitor failure really
          by sam_sam_sam
These cheap non brand capacitors at it again

Last night we had a power outage [ long drawn out trying three to come back up before going out completely ] and when I went to turn the DVR camera recorder back today no go 3 bad capacitors ( one capacitor no ESR reading on DVR board the other 3 capacitor on the power supply board over 40 ohm this is not a misprint ) on the external switching power supply and one capacitor on the DVR camera recorder board where the power supply that goes to the hard drive disk is

Well at least I have the cameras back on line I to try the...

Mitsubishi CNC switching power supply board dead / relay board bad diode failure
          by sam_sam_sam
I was working on this CNC machine today found no keyboard functioning no control relay powering on
The screen powered on and was giving an operation error but the manual was not very clear about what the error exactly was but with a little bit of troubleshooting and finding out that the control relays not powering on and no keyboard functions we narrowed down to this one switching power supply which of course does not have any indicator LED light they are on the keyboard interface/relay controller board

Found shorted diodes on main controller relays there are 3 of them that...

Using a 5 volt @ 12 amp switching power supply and two USB doctor volt / amp meter to three IPads on one power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have been wanting to do this project for some time using a Mean-well switching power supply that I bought at least ten of them that were originally in a device that was abandoned for some reason they were listed new but removed from equipment that was never used

I do not understand Mean-well the capacitor next to the voltage reference ic chip was a brand that is known for failure over time the other capacitors are brand name needless to say it got replaced before I even powered it on for the first time

I used a four USB outlet and electrical plate that is made for...
