The toroidal coils are NOT the PI filter inductors.
i4004, you need to stick to something you know about, like antique TV's.

The output PI filter inductors are circled in yellow.

you know about element markings on the pcb, right?
what letter is used to mark those things u call "torroidal transformers"?
and what letter is used to mark 2 "other"(hehe) transformers?

      anybody home, bonez?
put more of that medicine on your moustache, it's making you silly beyond belief!

      oh yeah
      >"Should be" ?
It is, that's exactly what I said.

i was talking to corbin. look
"corbin, uc3845 should be main supply pwm controller, not the 5vstby's...."
      see?

A Torroid with 2+ windings is a Transformer whether you like it or not i4004.

I mentioned the Toroidal Transformer as point of reference to assist corbin in locating on the PCB where I was talking about.

Your useless erroneous argumentative BULLSHIT is helping NO ONE.

where did you see 10khz signals? they end on mosfet? checked that mosfet?
should be mosfet that supplies 5vstby's primary.
The 10khz signal is generated by the oki50 chip and is present at the gate of the MOSFET. The duty-cycle is only 16usec, so there is no way it is turning that FET on. I don't have an isolation transformer, so I don't want to hook my scope up to the nonisolated AC/DC on this side of the board to get more information on what is coming out of that chip.

I have not tested the other chip at this point. If the oki50 is for the standby, then I am looking in the right place at this time.

Sorry about that. Both digital cameras where out of the house yesterday and didn't get back until this afternoon. I'll take some pics and see if I can do half as good a job as some of you at labeling things to better explain what I have measured and where those signals were.

                    <wink>

if it can't trigger the fet you should check passive components around it and pray it's not ic itself, as it's seems it's some custom job (if oki50 is all that's written on it)

something else; perhaps it's latched into protection as a result of short on secondary, or even trafo windings...

I have several TP and TP2 here to look at and none of them have an Oki IC.

Where is it on the PCB?
It may be something with alternate parts in production.

Re: Well, I just joined the club. And the forum! Antec TP 550 EPS died.

I might have a winner: shorted primary on standby transformer. I pulled it out to measure the resistance on the primary and secondary sides and this is what I got:

                        Secondary: 0.32 ohms.
                        Primary 1: 0.53 ohms.
                        Primary 2: 1.65 ohms.

Do these numbers sound even close to normal?

Here are a few pics with some labels to clarify things some (I hope):

Here is the back of the board with the labels

Here is a shot of where the standby transformer used to be. Note hot spots around diode D20

Different angle of the standby transformer's location to show the other diodes around it

While the transformer was out, I also ohmed out the two pair of primary pads. The pads for both pair of windings showed completely open. I also tested the six diodes around this transformer and they all tested as good, even the one that appears to have been very hot.

After powering up the supply with the transformer out, I was seeing the 324VDC at the pad for one leg of the primary coil and I could hear a bit of electronic humming going on (I generally have better than average hearing). I went ahead and soldered the transformer back in to verify the voltage readings at the primaries and secondaries and got this:

324VDC at pads P1a and P1b (in and out of the first primary coil)
0VDC at pads P2a and P2b (in and out of the second primary coil)
0VD at pads S1a and S1b (while there are four pins on the secondary side, they are wired together in pairs by the transformer and by the PCB)

For the record, all of my DC voltages where measured relative to the point labeled "DC 1 REF" (aka: ground). The voltage on the secondary coil was measured across S1a to S1b.

                        Ideas?

hard to say without numbers from the working unit.
bonez should pull that trafo from his unit and measure it.

i have 3 supplies i'l be dismantling(pulling the caps and sending them to bonez, he likes used caps...) so i could check values on those....won't be done tomorrow, i'm afraid...
and it doesn't have to be relevant for you...

those burn marks are suspicious, yes, as there shouldn't be much load there(or overall on 5vstby supply).

(offtopic/ bonez, cy3 connects primary and secondary ground... <wink> /endofftopic)

I fail to see what CY3 has to do with anything at all here.
The only possible reason to bring it up is to instigate another arguement.

                                PCBONEZ,

                                The transformer is marked:

It looks like it is a custom transformer as I couldn't find much of anything about it online.

I'm not sure just how relevant it is, but I had a small standby transformer from another old power supply lying around (a couple of it's power transistors decided to go burn in hell). Both the primary and secondary coils measured around 0.3 ohms.

That's in the ball park with this one. They are totally different PC power supplies, but I would guess that most of the basic functions will be very similar just because they are all trying to do the exact same job.

Now I'm starting to wonder if that PWM IC has decided to pack it in or is latched due to an overload.

Replace the 47uF cap and see if it comes back to life. Grab a close value from another supply if you have one. Up to 100uF would be okay, and a voltage at or above its present rating. Just to see if it comes back, then you can get the correct one.

I don't think an ohmmeter test of that transformer will reveal much unless you're getting a reading from the P1 pins to the P2 pins or either show a reading to the secondary, that may indicate a short. Or not. Without knowing how the transformer is wound, or manufacturers resistance specs, it is difficult to say.

If the 5vsb is having a problem the PWM chip is doing its job by preventing the PSU from starting.

I have that one. That PSU is already apart too.

0519 is just the date code. All the rest of the numbers are exact matches.

as a beginner electronics hobbyist, after a few years I would like to place another post on this Forum section, given that I did not succeed in finding any useful advice among the other posts.

Over the last years, I have been using a PowerEdge Dell Server with two redundant PSUs, namely the 750W F750E-S0 ones (aka 06W2PW). Unfortunately, last summer one of them failed (perhaps owing to an overheating), and the server had for working to take into account the other one only. Of course I opened and tried to troubleshoot the failed PSU, but each cap I tested seemed to...

Hello, please how to properly configure VPN in this environment?
I have two subnets in two different (geographical) workplaces, connected via IPsec (thru gateway routers)
Main subnet: 192.168.11.0/24, gateway (router IP) 192.168.11.1, Windows 2016 server (VPN, DHCP, DC etc.) 192.168.11.3
                                            2nd subnet : 192.168.22.0/24, gateway (router IP) 192.168.22.1 - just client computers.

I need to allow external (home office) users connect via VPN server (192.168.11.3) to the 2nd subnet (192.168.22.0/24) to their computers (via RDP).
I have no problems with VPN connection...
