ABS power supplies

I've only had one experience with these power supplies, my friend bought a 1100W ABS Tagan (ABS is Newegg's house brand,) its pretty nice. Runs 3 gtx260's in tri-sli, Q9300, and 4 gigs of ram. This thing is pretty heavy, and has a dual 80mm fans.

Its ran very stable so far, all three of his gtx260's and his processor are overclocked considerably, and the psu has lots of air accelerated through it, as he mounted a 1200cfm refrigerator squirrel cage fan on the front.

Oh I thought by ABS you mean't ABS plastic.

In that case the only one I know of is that cheap clear POS from Logisys for 30 bucks .

On the up side you could see the caps in it on the bad side they had brightly colored caps and I'm willing to bet a respectable Japanese manufacturer wouldn't bother with different color labels. So I'd bet they are crap caps.

6 rails rated at 20 amps a piece, yet total combined is only 80 amps

Everyone should have a DC welder conveniently located in their computer....

Ya, I just noticed that

Something dosen't add up there, My HEC zephyr has 4 12v's at 19A each (76A), and thats only a 750W. This one is a 1100W, and apparently only 4 amps more? Then theres also the question of how 20+20+20+20+20+20=80.

Well, it's obviously just a matter of "ZOMG LOOK AT HOW MANY RAILS WE HAVE!?!?!!!!111!!1!!"

You can load any one rail to 20 amps without a problem... just don't try to load all of them to 20 at the same time. Kind of like how you can load a breaker panel with 20 amp breakers, all totally over 200 amps, even though the main breaker is only rated for 100amp (IE- my house ). Just don't try to use them all to capacity at once, and you'll be fine

PSU ratings are often exaggerated, usually by some type of loophole (see- very high amp ratings on +3.3 and +5, which aren't used as heavily anymore). In real-world use, you could have a 500 watt psu that isn't adequate to run a K6-II

I thought their house brand was Rosewill. They have 2 names now?

I don't think ABS has anything to do with newegg specifically. Rosewill is definitely neweggs house brand.

Yes, rosewill is newegg's in house brand, but it was founded by ABS.
