Re: Rewinding burnt choke coil
looks familiar.
those are 10-20$ from places like banggood.
i like switching psu's with "cage" cases rather than sealed with a fan - that's why!!!

Rewinding burnt choke coil
Good day folks. Someone recently gave me a dead power supply they pulled from a CCTV system and told me I could have it since they already replaced it with a new one, so I took this one apart and the inside was really in a shocking state: there's burnt traces, blown capacitors, a jammed fan and worst of all this: fried coil.....awesome. I think what happened to this guy is the fan failed and the heat quickly became too great for some of the components to bare, so they failed, especially since the numbnuts may have put a significant load on it. It's a PNI and it claims 10A continuous which although may not sound too shabby, I doubt can be achieved - not with the state of that output...
The biggest issue here is rewinding that coil, since I suspect the enamel has come off the windings due to the heat, which is not good since the windings will short out. Can I take some 0.3mm enamel copper wire and just rewind the thing ? (yes, I measured it with calipers). It's not too tightly packed and if I carefully remove the existing wire and measure its length it seems like an easy job. Worst case scenario is that one of the rings is just going to crumble somewhere in the middle of me trying to remove it and if that happens, I'm not sure how easy it is to obtain a ring of the same diameter and thickness....what do you guys think ? It's not so much about the PSU since I'm sure it's a piece of junk at the end of the day, but about honing my skills and enjoying a good projectTags: None

by FZGHello there, helpful forum people!
I am in the process of fixing an old (ca. 1990) Sony BVM1410PM CRT monitor and need some help. The PSU board of this monitor had failed and I had to replace quite a few capacitors and other parts but now - with my limited knowledge - I ran into a wall.
On the board there is a coil choke that has failed (tested with inductance meter) and I don´t know what to replace it with. According to the device´s service manual the part in question is a "Coil, Choke 525 uH (Sony P/N: 1-459-643-11)".
The original part... -
by dicky96Hi guys
This Zotac GTX 260 had a high side MOFET on one Vcore VRM phase short circuit Drain to Gate (Not short Drain to Source)
This has burnt out the drive IC L3E (ADP3110A) and also an SOT-23 device very close to the driver IC. According to the PCB markings 'Dxxx' this is likely to be a diode.
Basically the VRM has 4 phases, two powered from one 6 way connector and two powered from the other 6 way
I would assume each pair of phases are basically identical, the burnt out phase has SOT-23 devices WW1 plus the burnt one.
The good phase... -
by momakaMore eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)
And a shot of the label:... -
by momakaFor today's thread, I have a KingWin ABT-650MM ATX PSU. Official web page with the PSU specs is still up and can be found here:

I just can't help it when I see a broken / for parts PSU on eBay that's listed for cheap and looks at least somewhat interesting. Well, OK, I won't lie – on the outside, this PSU looks anything but interesting. It's a plain gray box with colorful “spaghetti cables”.
What mostly drew me into buying it is its 2x PCI-E power connectors... -
by chth96I have a CD unit which is came from saturn game console.
It always perceived Any retail CD or CD-R as Audio-CD.
Of course I changed laser head and adjust pot of laser head nearby, but It always failed to perceive as saturn game CD.
I think that this problem probably begins When I tighten IFT coil too hard with small screw driver and suddenly I heard some kind of snap or cracking sound
I desoldered this IFT coil and It is 7pin IFT coil and written "4120 009 62VK" on the surface.
Is there any way to identify its frequency in order...11-11-2022, 05:31 AM - Loading...
