    HP DPS240MB no power

Hi, I recently found in street a tower HP COMPAQ DC7900 SFF, its problem is that it does not turn on, I put another PSU and this turned on, I checked the capacitors they look good. I make the green cable bridge to ground and it does not start.
Is there any known problem about this PSU?
The PSU is a HP DPS240MB.
2 months ago repair a very similar, had an inflated LTEC capacitor, I replaced it perfect, and it worked again.
When I can, I will dismantle the PCB and take photos, I do not have much time .
    Bye

    Re: HP DPS240MB no power

The manufacturer is actually Delta Electronics (= Delta Products). The model number alone told me that (because I used to work for Delta), but it's on the label as well. It looks like the main transformer has a date code of "0830", which means the 30th week (last week of July or first week of August) of 2008. Based on that age and assuming the output connector is a standard 20- or 24-pin ATX pin-out and color-code, check the purple wire pin to see if it has +5VSB. If it does then the problem is in the main loop. If it does not then the problem is in the Standby regulator circuit. If the latter, the common problem is the small electrolytic caps in that circuit.

Being 9 years old, any output caps that are not of the known good brands (Chemi-Con, Nichicon, Panasonic, and Rubycon) should be considered suspect. Especially if you had to blow out a lot of dust to get that internal picture.

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

      Re: HP DPS240MB no power

Okay, thank you very much, when I can, I'll check to see if the PSU is a sign of life.
      I'll try changing the capacitors.
There is no 5VBS, check the other capacitors. The input part is fine, the large capacitor had 250v accumulated.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
        by PantherDave
        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

        Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
        by GLISIT
        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

        >>> Troubleshooting Delta Power MAX 500ATX ATX power supply
        by dragon3x
Hi, this is for troubleshooting and, hopefully, repairing a Delta Power psu
that is still quite new, as it worked OK for some months until it failed.
At the time I was not into power supply electronics; it was put
aside and a new power supply installed inside the computer. Also at the time
power supplies were half the price of today's.

On the PCB there are a D339 and 7500B chips.

I have found that schematics with these 2 chips (see included file).
Does it represent the actual circuit of the MAX-500ATX, I cannot tell.

        Some measurements,...
