If you update the primary caps to 680uF it can do 350W:
Switching transistors are good sized TO-3P D209L, heatsinks are thick enough and designed for 120mm fan cooling and the transformer is real ERL 35.

I would absolutely add a 30A schottky rectifier for 12V rail.

I have a Linkworld psu like that in my "for service" pile of power supplies, but I have been too busy to play with it. I remember the metal case was ridiculously thin.

The first PSU I fixed was a gutless that had no line filtering and a dead fan, changed the fan and added 2 y caps one x and one coil

If you have doubled that collection, I'm amazed and impressed! I am mainly after "obscure" PSUs that I have never seen. And believe it or not...I love refurbishing Sun Pro units. Shame they went out of business

The reason I began fixing computer power supplies in 2009 is because I wanted to learn what was wrong when they went bad such that computer shops won't repair them, but simply trash and replace. I have come to believe that if you are daring enough to fix just one computer power supply, you have become an expert electronics technician ......... unless the first one you fix is a Bestec ATX-250 12E. That was the first one I fixed and everyone started throwing chairs at me!!! The general opinion was that this model power supply was the worst in existence, a mother board killer, and total trash, certainly not worth fixing. Well......that power supply is still working, powering a computer with AMD cpu (Pentium 3 class). I still use it for playing music, mp3 files, and playing freecell cards. Why throw the psu away, or the "old" dinosaur computer. Still works fine!

Meanwhile, I think my collection in the attic has doubled from the picture I posted some time ago. So..............Pentium4, if you run out of psu's to fix just let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the power distribution from the 12V rails is right this PSU fits a niche where only a couple of amps are needed from the 6-pin PCIe connector to feed a mainstream GPU like GTX 950/1050Ti and that may explain the 20A rectifier in 12V, so you were right, it's great for HTPC.
I have heard that some PSUs went kaboom when the didn't have load, and that's why they are there on some PSUs.
Agreed with you but I will use a 1050 or an Rx 460, less power consumption imagine 65w CPU, 75w GPU, 12w HDD, 20w ram and vrm looses, 12w on fans that's close to 15.33 amps on a part that should not exceed 70% usage and 70% of a 20a part is 14a, or that's what I have heard or read on some places like hardware secrets
Or something like an r9 270, that's 120w power consumption with peaks at 150w and it only uses one 6pin, I want you guys to know that I respect you and I'm smart enough to know that you know more than me on psus so, I'm just saying not trying to piss you off with my comment

Thanks. I used nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, Rubycon YXF for the little caps. 1200uF 6.3V Chemi-Con KY for 5VSB, 3300uF 10V Rubycon PX for 5V and 3.3V, 2200uF 16V Chemi-Con KYB for 12V, nichicon PW for -12V.

You were right! I hooked it up to a system and it powered up no problem. It just didn't have enough load with just a paperclip. Since the fan spins so slow, I'm glad I changed out the resistors. They will be putting out a lot less heat and increase the efficiency a little. Yes it indeed only has that one 20A schottky for 12V.

It may be the resistor change, try to put some load in 5V and 12V rails, if that fails and you're absolutely sure that there is no solder bridge, then put original resistors and try again, also re-check caps polarity.

That's what i do when it happens to me

so maybe i'm guessing it's wattage wrong, but then again it's no purpose to put a 20A rectifier in a 2 rail psu, are sure it only uses one 20A rectifier?

I added an input filter and recapped it. I also replaced all of the 47 ohm resistors on the rails for 200 ohm. However, I think I did something wrong because the PSU just ticks the fan upon hitting power now.

I know it has nothing to do with the input, because after adding the input filter and permanent 115V wiring, I tested it and saw that it powered up and was running. So it has to do with something I did while replacing caps and resistors. Couldn't be the resistor change, could it?

Yeah. I really love silent PSUs for HTPC though Sorry, I forgot to answer your question. I haven't touched it yet, I just desoldered the AC wires to take pictures, and it is just a single 12V rail with no shunts.

No, everell wins. But yes, I do have a large amount of PSUs

Whether you're going to use 20A or not, the 30A rectifier would just be used for higher efficiency. I don't think I would waste a 30A rectifier on this thing though. It's powerful enough to power a HTPC. This thing is seriously so silent that it would be great for that application.

The thing is 20A in 12V Rail will not happen that's not the 12V rating in a sub 300W PSU

Yep, but remember that pushing a 20a part to 20a would be stressing that rectifier, they have looses (close to 30% or something like that I read it on hardware secrets) so more than 14a would be asking too much, maybe it will be OK but I don't like to push things to the limit

30A schottky for 12V? ...mmm don't think it needs more than 20A, would bet the protection kicks in before you reach 20A in 12V rail.

Problem with the Logitech G27 gaming steering wheel gear lever
    by render1967
Hello! First, please excuse me if my English is not good enough because it is not my native language!
Now let me describe my specific problem. For two days, the gear lever on my Logitech G27 has shown the following defect. When switching in the game (for example ETS2) it often does not detect 1st, 3rd and 5th gear - in these positions it shows neutral or flashes between the specific gear and neutral (for example - 1st <> neutral). When I press the gear lever to the left or right while it is in a position, it still manages to guess the gear and engage. In addition, instead of rear...

Corsair RM 750 blown schottky diode near ES1DF
    by iyas132
Hi there, i am currently diagnosing my corsair rm750 that wont turn on, after a power trip.

Before the power trip, previously i need to push power button on my pc case quite a bit in order to turn the pc (and power supply on), however after the power trip now i cannot turn the pc on at all and i opened the power supply, and found out some of the component(s) are blown. (picture attached)

My current diagnostic is that the (schottky) diode marked "SF" in the 5Vsb circuit are blown and possibly the ES1DF diode too.

Can anyone help me identify the component...

FH7 Sony cass deck service manual & gear required.
    by zen
    Hi all

    This deck keeps jamming.

Took a chance & ordered an upgraded FF cam gear, plus slider sold on Ebay, as I thought it might be a common cause of issues being that it was sold a repair kit.

Well, that's what I get for making assumptions.

Stripped down & discovered a large black intermediate gear with worn teeth.

Can anyone help to source it?

iMac screen problem - PSU schottky's failing?
    by Crystaleyes
    Hi all,

have another iMac with flickering then black screen issue.

    It is a 21.5" 2010 A1311 model.

When switched on, the screen flickers before going black. With a torch you can see the image is there, as are all four diagnostic LED's.

Measuring the PSU output only gives around 10.5v with the cable harness connected, although it measures 12.06v unconnected. This leads me to suspect something the power supply.

I saw that some people had found a shorted mosfet on the output however these seem fine, when tested for...
