Mini split PFC baord repair assistance.

Hello! I just acquired a new project! It is a Grunair mini split(off brand junk)
I was hoping that i can get the board repaired.
So far i have taken photos of and identified two burned parts.
They are as follows

My plan is too replace these two parts as well as test the three large caps on the board. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether i should replace anything else? (or how to test them.)
No burn marks or anything obvious on the other board.

on photo 1 there is another burnt component to the left of the white square part is a black cylinder with 3 prongs. It is burnt up. Cant identify it.

That 3-leg device can be either Transistor or more likely to Programmable shunt regulator IC such as xx431.


There should be printing on the flat side of the body.

i found out it was a transistor(first in circuit Q1)

I attempted to de-solder it. ended up breaking it!! The face reads br9013 h r07t

ive got the other components out and the transistors legs without damaging the board. Im going to wait a bit for more input until i make the purchase on new components.

Im still not sure what transistor to buy, any help is greatly appreciated!!

the schematic is in the manual on page 13/14 so is the model number of the mini split..

Unfortunately i couldn't upload my images here as they were WAY to big and good quality. Thats why i used imgur, which is a fairly respectable site.

also the reason i think it blew is a lizard was on the "IC OFFLINE SWIT" part. http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea...52480985888806

I cant see any fuses so it might have just blown other stuff up.

in that first foto, the track on the smd resistor R106 is missing!!!

Ah! i see that, perhaps this board is for more than one unit. This model has units that can run 1 2 3 or 4 heads. Perhaps the boards were roughly the same minus some small stuff like that? or bad QA?

how do i go about repairing it? Would a small electrical fire/explosion tear it off? Thats what happened on the top of the board and by the transistor i removed.

that is the best photo i can find of a "new" board.

The only differenc ei can see is the large caps on this one are silver on the bottom/top.

If you check the 2nd photo in badcaps, resistors R20 and R40 look like there is a bit missing on top. Check those as well for correct resistance.
Also above R20 and on R21 label is there a cut on the track or just dirt?

the material on the resistors came off revealing the numbers beneath.

Attempted checking resistance, failed. I assume i have to remove from circuit.

If you cannot measure any resistance on circuit, then they are definitely open. Usually material breaks due to temperature when they burn..

I haven't removed them yet.

Although, there was a laminate type material over the resister pads. I scrapped them up a little and now can get a in circuit reading on each of them
