    Audio SMPS cap tips?

    Greetings everyone...

    Sometime in the (very) near future, i'll be putting together a pair of half-bridge SMPS's (as per http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...&pagenumber=28 ), and i was wondering if anyone around here had anygood ideas for the output caps...

    I have to mention that it's gonna put out around +/-35Vdc so 50V caps are a minimum. Grid 10mm, dia 16mm.

    If at all possible, recommendations should be from among the caps available at Farnell (pretty much the only trustable distributor at hand).

          After a quick search, the Panny FC 1000uF / 50V for 1UKP a piece looks like a worthwhile choice...

              FC seems to be a perfect choice, even i would be inclined to use Pany FM.

                  Guys check out the link of the supply the guy used Fukyuu caps for the line filter.

                  The secondary caps are Jamicon SKs which are general purpose not only that they are 85C rated. Not a good idea at all ALWAYS use low ESR 105C caps on the secondary filters.

                  Normally due to the turtle shell vents I would say that they are Hermei or another sketchy brand but the series SK in the rounded rectangular box gives them away as Jamicon since I have some lying around here.

                  Check the link for the datasheet to see for yourself.



                  Yes Panny FCs are perfect for PSUs, LCD monitors, and anywhere else where the high heat would cause problems for the more vulnerable aqueous lytics.

                  I believe Farnell carries the FC series.

                  As for the line filter cap you can use the Panasonic TS-HA, TS-HB, TS-HC, or TS-ED. I use them interchangably based on the size I need browse through the datasheets for the proper sizing.

                      Even before i posted this here, i had gotten in contact with the guy. Among others, i did warn him about the output caps, but he said he has yet to have any negative experiences with that unit. Lucky fella, i suppose

                      PS: those are indeed Jamicons

                      I'm not yet sure precisely what input caps i'll be using, but i do recall having a pair of identical SMPS's out of who knows what old medical equipment, which, if memory serves me correctly, Nichicon 200V or 400V after the input rectifier.

                          I think this unit can do well for some time with GP capacitors.
                          Due to the higher voltage, currents are not that high, and ripple requirements are about 0,7v, which is quite high.
                          Furthermore, he is using them in parallel configuration, which would lower the ESR by a factor of 2 to 3.

                          But sure, i would at least stick with Panasonic FC`s.

                              The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

                              As per title and also any tips on what to test first would be welcome on fixing this keyboard, which worked 100% and then upon the next power on, no display or response from keys, buttons, sliders, dials etc. However the Firewire audio interface section still works.

                              I have this Lantec PULSE 386 subwoofer I got a while back laying around awating repair for quite some time. Sadly it's missing it's original speakers which it came with.
                              After plugging in the mains, the LED on the volume controller lights up. When I plug in the 3.5" jack cable to my soundcard (confirmed to work), I get no audio on the subwoofer (nor the speaker jack at the back).

                              The PCB is quite simple. There is a UTC4558 amp and two D6282 audio amps. When I put my finger on the UTC4558 I can see and hear the speaker "fart". Although, the left...

                              Hi All. I had a Roland KR-3500 Digital Piano (similar to the KR-4500) that exhibited a Crackling audio sound on all keys. After reading somewhere about someone with a similar issue who had replaced all the Electrolytic caps I decided to also go down that route. (Spoiler : It worked !) After some basic troubleshooting I determined that it could be noise feeding thru from the Keyboard scanning since the Demo tunes played back undistorted and the Audio amp / speakers were fine ( Inserted an Audio signal into the rear Audio input). After extracting the main board from the shield, I replaced 7 Capacitors...

                              I did find a SN012776B0 on A2442 model, but the sub and replaced it, no go. Anyone know if these audio amp IC's are cross compatible between 2021-2023 models?...
