    Aopen FSP300-60BT replacement cap question

    Hi Guys & Girls,

I am currently in the middle of recapping two Aopen PSU's as they have started to misbehave (and are filled with bulging or leaking crap caps!).
The question I have about one capacitor value only... a 2200uf 16V

It was burried right down in the output cables (8mm dia.) and the only replacement I have is 16mm dia and doesn't stand a chance of fitting (crap suntan as well!) -> So my question is would any of these other values that I have on hand do the job?

    1800uf 16v MCZ
    3300uf 6.3v MBZ
    2200uf 6.3v Sanyo WG
    4700uf 10v GD Samxon

I figure the 1800uf is the safest bet as it has the right voltage rating... but is the reduction in uf too great?

    Thanks for the help!

    Cheers Harvey

16v caps are used on the 12v lines. 10v and 6.3v caps will not survive there. The uf reduction should be fine unless you are running your power supply at maximum output.

Thanks for the reply Severach, that is what I thought, but its always good to get a second opinion! The power supply won't be overly taxed so it should survive... at least for a while!

You should be able to get some Samxon 10mm 2200uf 16v from Big Pope if your worried about them. The problem is all 10mm 2200 16v caps seem to be only 2000h caps. The 1800 Rubycon should not be that big of a problem.

Thanks for that... I have just ordered some samxon 2200uf 16v from bigpope! I also found a 3300uf 16v cap on the second PSU (another size I didn't have) ... so I ordered some samxon ones of those as well!

I was hoping I could get the PSU's up and running this week... but it looks like I am going to have to be patient and annoy the postie everyday instead!

          Thanks for the help guys!

Well, last time I ordered from Big Pope he sent the caps on a Friday and I had them the next Tuesday, right home at my mailbox!

List of original caps on my FSP300 60BT

              Jamicon TM 4700uF 10v 13mmx31.5mm [3]
              Teapo SEK 3300uF 10v 13mmx30mm [1]
              Jamicon TK 1000uF 16v 10mmx16mm [1]
              Jamicon TK 1650uF 16v 10mmx16mm [1]

Your FSP300-60BT's have 2200uf 16v cap and 3300uF 16v cap in them, that surprises me

              Good luck on the recapping

Re: Aopen FSP300-60BT replacement cap question

                Hi Yanz,

The caps I pulled out of the PSU are as follows:

                Jamicon TM 4700uF 10v 13mmx31.5mm [1]
                Fuhjyyu TMR 4700uF 10v 13mmx35mm [2]
                Fuhjyyu TNR 3300uF 10v 10mmx25mm [1]
                Fuhjyyu TNR 2200uF 16v 10mmx30mm [1]
                Teapo 1000uF 16v 10mmx19mm [1]
                Teapo 470uF 16v 7mmx14mm [1]

They were replaced with Samxon GD & Rubycon (MBZ, MCZ) with matching values (only a 1800uf 16v replaced the 1000uf 16v)... and it has been folding in a machine (for Badcaps team of course ) for nearly a week now with very stable voltages according to the system log.

Of the above caps the Jamicon was bulging and the 2200uf had burst... the rest shown no signs. I am keeping them all until I get a ESR meter to test them all with -> just to see how bad they are!

                Cheers Harvey

This could be a great psu, but fuhjyyu and jamicon capacitors ruin it all.

                  Nice folding btw
                  Cheers

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                    by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
                    by the_rem
                    Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
                    by ezenia
                    Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement?...

klipsch kda-500 amplifier suitable power supply capacitor replacement ?
                    by r2digital
I have a klipsch kda-500 that would turn on and allow me to get into the web management but it was picking up a lot of noise from audio sources so i decided to replace the smd caps on the power supply along with radial one. Some one was in here before me and they basically burned the bottom side of the traces off for the radial cap but i was able to repair it without any real problem. I thought i did a good job sourcing out replacement caps but apparently not and now i can't get the power supply to turn on it just constantly try's to keep turning on. Attached is a picture of the power supply before...
