Hi All
A friend o mine had a Mac G5 with defective PSU and the mac was not booting.
I had the idea of using a PC AT PSU and moved the pins to the mac connector. Ive found a few diagram about other people that have done it.
PC ATX have 24 pins, Mac connector 22.
For the 24 Volt, i used an old HP LAserjet 4 plus PSU, and the 24 V is on the Jumper 103, Blue and red wire. I connected those to the 21-22 mac connector as displayed on the pinout.
here are some pictures:
Mac booting
Connector from PC and HP PSU
Explanation of the measured voltage :
Both PSU
I used those picture from other to reuse my pinout
Its now working great but a bit bulky with 2 PSU on the back! I should have used molex connector to disconnect PSU from the back but hey, my friend wanted to be cheap, it cost him only 2 beer.
