I'm not going to take it out one more time, since the mounting holes on the front are becoming enlarged (from all those removals and installations ). It's a typical Y-B200ATX type L&C power supply, maybe somebody here has one.

        Re: My partially-recapped L&C 450W PSU

I just did a check-up on the L&C power supply today. It's been over a month since its recap, and I checked to see if there were any problems. I fixed a few weak solder joints from the recap, since I now have more experience in soldering than I did before. I added an additional Nichicon 1000uf 6.3V cap in an empty place for an 8MM radial electrolytic cap near the other one I had put in before. It's the cap that's closest to the fan in the Y-B200ATX-based L&C power supplies.

But one thing caught my attention. During the solder joint checkup I found a bad solder joint on the Rubycon 1000uf 16V 10MM YXB cap I placed a month ago. I tried to correct it with no good results. I took the Rubycon cap out and found dried brown liquid (probably electrolyte) leaking out from the bung of it. I replaced the Rubycon cap with a "drang con" 1000uf 16V 10MM cap I had in my jar of caps, and I could make good solder joints from it.

Since the YXB series is an older discontinued series of Rubycon capacitors, and Rubycon's current products have improved, I still believe in the quality of Rubycon products.

Don`t forget to handle the leads with care. If you bent or stress them to hard, the bunge itself could easily be damaged.
I have to admit, that i personally have misused many caps from that point of view, but up to now i was lucky.

YXB was a good low impedance series about 15 or 20 years ago. But I suspect current applications are a bit to challenging.
