Look at this piece of crap...

Here's an Atng "300W" power supply. Look at the tiny caps and lack of filters, and the caps are all Rulycon

Funny thing is, it's rated for far more amperage than the 200W Astec that is in the other pics. The Astec has all Nichicon and UCC caps. Problem is, the 92mm fan is external to the case, and I can't fit it in any of my systems. Going to mount an 80mm fan in the back of it and cover the old hole.

The Atng was in one of my rackmount cases, powering an ECS K7S5A, which still has it's original G-Luxon caps

Several corners were cut in the ATNG: non-approved capacitors between line and ground, a lot of EMI filtering components missing, and the main filtering capacitors should have been 470uF instead of 220uF.
A bit like the Vogue (Deer) unit I once had...
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

ATNG either OEM'ed for Startech, or became Startech. I have pictures in the PSU pictorial thread of a Startech supply that still had the original ATNG spec sticker on it.
      Ludicrous gibs!

The worst part is, I have an "@Power" psu that I think is a Deer, and it actually has input filters and such, and is made better than the Atng

Those old Astecs were reasonably well made, certainly better within their limits than that Atng, but don't be fooled, they really are only capable of their rating due to the small transformer.

Also I don't know where you got that one (Astec), but it looks a lot like some I used to pull out of Gateway 2000 systems which at this point would have been about 8+ years old. Even a good PSU, if ran for years, has an end-of-useful-life. I mean the PSU might have some life left in it but to redeploy for another tour of duty might be pushing your luck.

that atng is a typical "gutless wonder"
            too light for a doorstop.

You're right on the mark..... pun intended!

I look forward to shooting some ECS boards this summer!
