Anyone interest to recap large input caps?

I am planning to get some stock of Samxon EP 820uF 200v D22x50mm (105'C and 5000 hours long life) for recapping my great PSU with poor large input caps. As i know, it is hard to get good large can input caps for computer power supply in market.

Of course, i will test this kind of caps for my own PSU first.

The spec. of Samxon EP series download here --> http://www.samxon.com/PDF/prodPDF_107.pdf

As i know, some of new Delta power supply are used with Samxon LP series as large input caps. By this reason, we decide to use EP series, because EP series are much better spec. than LP series.

Doesn't Man Yue have a factory in Dongguan, where Delta also has a factory?

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

Did you ever end up doing this? If so, what do you think?

My SL350 has 820uF 200V main caps. I could recap this supply with Samxon. Whether they are as good as Rubycon or not, common consensus is that they are obviously much better than Fuhjjyu! Hopefully, you can get every other size it needs as well.

Err, I'm in america so I suppose I am suppose to order from badcaps. Can someone give me an idea of how much this usually costs? I have all the equipment, I've just never had to buy several, large and quality oriented caps.

no-name Radeon 9600 XT recap and cooler

I've been seeing a lot of cheap-looking (but not always so cheap) no-name AGP video cards on eBay for a while. They started popping up quite a bit when the market for AGP cards became more alive all of a sudden due to interest in “retro” PCs. One thing that struck me about these cheapo cards is that they almost always seem to come with garbage caps - including the abominable Sacon FZ. That aside, though, I've been wondering about the rest of the quality (or lack of?) on these cards. So I decided to satisfy my curiosity yet again.

This one was actually suggested to me by ChaosLegionnaire....

            Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
            by eryjus
            Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
            by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

820-02020 Super Weird Issue: Keyboard Input Character Map "Wrong"?
            by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

            1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

            2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...

Chemi-con ends production of large part of caps
            by Behemot
Been recently informed that NCC is EoL'ing many caps from ALL series, some series (like LE, long life, medium ESR/RC) will end as a whole.

From what I've seen, D5, D6.3 and D8 caps are affected. So ALL the small caps, either standard or low-ESR, and many caps in filtering (in D8, especially FSP, but many others use that in output filters in SMPS).

Last order accepted in 2024, so I will try to restock and pre-stock as many as possible to keep them caps flowing, but at the very last about 2030 I will most likely run out. Could only hope that other manufacturers won't...
