MGE XG Magnum 500w (Lifetime Warranty)

Anyone here have any info on these? They seem to be built like a tank, but i spotted some CapXon caps inside...sigh. A recap with some longterm caps it would seem to be a nice psu.

Don't be mislead by great heatsinking (especially copper); the capacitors may not be the best...
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

I feel no guilt for using a PSU with CapXon's in it.

        At least they're not Fuhjyyu's.
Rest in peace BFG. You were... a job...

CapXon are not too terribly bad, they're somewhat better than OST and Teapo IMO; and as long as they're kept cool and well-ventilated they should be OK for a little while. But if the warranty isn't a concern, I wouldn't mind getting some Panasonic FC or Nichicon PM/PW put into it just for safety's sake...

          Just my 2 cents...

The ever-amazing (and ever-affordable) KY, Chemi-con's best kept secret.

I'll probably be the only person going to SteamOS once it gets out of beta (ha ha.)

Thats my take on it as well. The warranty is nice, but if one let it go and it took down alot of hardware with it then i would rather recap it and void the warranty just to keep the stress level down. Why on earth would they build one so nice and not complete it with some longterm quality caps?

Also, can anyone find these for sale online anywhere or do they only come with cases? Only hits i can get are for the external 600 watt.

I 'd say if you keep tabs on that way cool self monitor panel you'd know if she started going out of bounds.
