    Ps3-cech-3001a psu

    Hello everyone.
    It has been a long time since been on here. Anyway, I was cleaning my PS3 the other day and decided to take a look inside the PSU. WOW look what I found....Lelon RGL
    And on the 12v output they use Lelon RXW 680uF 16v. wtf Sony???
    none of the are "bad" visually, but I don't wanna wait for them to go

    Problem is I can't seem to find a suitable replacement for for the two primary caps.
    I found KXG 100UF 450V. Do you think it will be ok to use 100uF instead of 82uF? Interesting, the older version of PS3 slim where using Nichicon PT 100UF 450v

    100u instead of 82u will be just fine, provided the physical dimensions fit

    Cheaper parts + same sale price = more profit (sort of unfortunately...)

        Sony has been using Lelon and other Chinese caps for a long time, but I didn't think they would be used on their more expensive equipment.

          Sony used to use Nichicon for most of their stuff, are PS3s made in Taiwan these days?

            PS3s are made in both Japan and China. It's luck of the draw which one you get.

              I think basically all PS3's are Chinese made now. And new Xbox 360 have Lelon capacitors for the VRM decoupling instead of Rubycon/Nichicon/Sanyo. Boo.

                You mean they use Lelon capacitors on Xbox 360's motherboard, in the VRM circuit? In the newer versions? ..................................................

                  Yes. Yes, they do. But they're coming out with the 720 in a year or so; customers will forget about their faulty 360 and buy the new one! And all the games with it. Woo, consumerism.

                    Yep they did, Nichicon and Chemi-Con. I believe all of slims are made in china these days, shame... quality is just shit. Speaking of "quality" you should have seen the tim they used on Gpu and CPU.Darn, I forgot to take pictures.

                    Anyway, works like a champ now.

                      An actual Sony-branded PCB, interesting. On older PS1 and PS2 consoles (original shape), the power supplies themselves had Nichicon or Matsushita logos on the PCB rather than Sony.

                        Must be recent, my PS3 (old "fat" version) has a Delta powersupply with a Delta branded PCB. The caps are also all Nichicon,UCC, or Rubycon. I guess this is part of the "cost reductions" in the newer slim models.

                          Sorry, forgot to mention, recapping PSU fixed the crackling>fading sound during heavy gaming
