    Fsp300-60pn(pf)

I had a psu like this only it was the 250W model with a separte 12V DC output. The pcb is the same anyway.

Seemed to be a simple standby problem at first... just replace two bad caps and done.
But the psu has more serious problems. The standby voltage is pulsing between 2-4 Volts, even some ac voltage is present. Same for the pson signal. Maybe the controller is bad, but I suspect that the feedback is not working and I have to point out the faulty component. It's hard to diagnose this without a scope, but since the the backlight died on my 5 month old Voltcraft I have to wait until it gets "repaired".

So, I'm going to check the primary and secondary side for bad parts in the standby and feedback path. I be glad if it would be just some small resistor, diode or cap and not some active components.

    Re: Fsp300-60pn(pf)

I checked everything in the standby and feedback, trafos too and eventually I striped down the whole primary just too look around I replaced all small caps in the primary and on the controll board. Two small 2.2uF 50V caps were 1.4-1.8uF. Haven't made any measurements on the KA3511 yet. Tomorrow I'll put everything back together and try to revive this thing...

Does someone know what is the component on the B1 position? It doesn't seem like some supressor or fuse. On my meter it reads open. It just makes a bridge from before and after the neutral's EMI filter section.

      Re: Fsp300-60pn(pf)

I removed the feedback trafo and compared it with a same type and known good one. I noticed that on it's primary side the winding which goes to an opto reads 0,8 Ohms and on the "working" one this value is 0,2. I haven't found any failed components around here so I'm going to swap the transformer and see what happens.
Hopefully I'll get my scope back next tuesday.

        Re: Fsp300-60pn(pf)

It turns out that the resistor on R1 had loose soldering, but most importantly the green film capacitor next to the standby trafo was shorted! All the trafos were good after all...

I thinking about about buying one later on this year depending on what feedback I get from this forum members that know more than I do about what is importance about what to have in a scope

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
          by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

          Samsung BN44-00259A standby question
          by Crystaleyes
          Hi all.

I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.

Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.

Sentey ATX PSU - ERP650-PS - Trying to find out the right Standby IC
          by temyth
Greetings! I have this ERP650-PS atx power supply, it is a relatively simple psu, the primary has a driver IC that controls the two main mosfets (two 20n60S5), together with a Classic Standby circuit with a PWM IC (not a FET like the VIper22A) , relatively similar to the SDC606P.

The whole point is that I got this power supply years ago when I had no knowledge, apparently the PWM IC was burned because someone turned the power supply on with the switch at 110v in a 220v network (classic error). Important detail: the power supply at the time came without the primary capacitors.

Need advice testing a samsung power supply board with scope
          by repair-it
I am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.
