I almost wonder if it is the manufacturers of power supplies that are being conned. Why wouldn't they just put dummy weights in the PSU if they wanted it to feel heavier? (*cough* Echostar) You can't see it from the outside and most buying a $15 PSU probably won't bother checking what is inside of their power supply. Why go to all the effort of having a fake PPFC coil made up?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Perhaps to fool authorities as well. IIRC, wasn't every PSU sold in Europe *supposed* to have some form of PFC?

You would need an inductance meter to see if the PFC coil (out of circuit, of course) is real or not.
I have seen "fake" wattages, but never before fake PFC coils...My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.Comment

Hello everyone, this topic is more of a knowledge sharing and look inside type of post, but for someone working on this model of display it might be useful. Recently I bought Acer Nitro XV273 XB MIIPRZX with busted electronic, but screen was intact, price was incredibly low, so I took a gamble and bought the unit and try to fix it.
