I've seen tons of DOA 'Deer' PSU's... They're absolute garbage! Double check those caps, none of the pics clearly showed the name. There's a Rubycon imposter which labels their caps rulycon, and at first glance they're hard to spot. On the ones in your pictures, I can see the notorious 'K' vents used by Rubycon, so they are probably genuine, but take a closer look just to be sure.

As incinerated as that PSU was, even a true Rubycon would fail under that heat...

I am thinking that the fan failed and toasted that psu. no reason otherwise for such heat. Heatsink is quite inadequate and in such situation forget it. Never seen a fan toasted like that and hope i never do. Considering that TC says deer psu are crap, unlikely that genuine rubycon be installed. Nice photos by the way FatalOE which camera you are using. Can you post another picture of a complete "rubycon" logo (your pics just miss our a complete logo) from your caps and the also side showing the model no. like ZL or YXG or something (not the 1000mf etc.)

The thing is can we recommend for you a good psu to buy?..........actually we have a guy in our office who has a PIII 500 running for about 4 years now. psu is a EAST and looks crap. Mobo is a soyo bx chipset and has wendel caps which look crap. That is the most stable comp and i have no idea why that comp is so fast considering its age. This is a guys work computer (nice guy) whose ex-wife is a bitch and is suing him for more alimony and the courts watch his bank accounts so he cant spend too much money or else the alimony gets increased. I think the computer gods are smiling on that guy....anyway gave him one of my optical mice when his intellimouse was busted today. gotta give the good people some slack.

I did not bring my camera back to work with me today to take pics, but I looked and they are Rulycon. Looks like model IM0110.
