Yeah.... there were the classic X-560, X-650, X-750 etc and then they made x-660, x-760 etc, which are updated versions of the previous designs. Nothing major changed, just some components shifted a bit and some heatsinks added.

The fan inside should still be a Sanyo Denki and they should all still be semi-passive power supplies.

I own a X-650... fan is not moving until you get to about 160-170 watts - it's an excellent psu imho but these days there are some great alternatives that are cheaper than the Seasonic X series.

I dunno what SPCR is and from what you're saying about their reviews I don't care.

AntecRep is afraid of me after I chewed is ass both here and on EE for the fucked SP and TP series with all Fuhjyyu caps.

Researching models that haven't been out for while is a waste of time.
For the most part review sites are worthless. They only see brand new parts.
Wait until they've been out for a year and then search google for problems.

I've used a lot of used EA-500 and EA-500D and I haven't had any problems with either.
      - I don't remember seeing any with OST though. Luck of draw? [Or bad memory?]
I do remember lots of Capxon in the Seasonic builds. Not quite as bad but almost.
The 380w or 430w would be enough but for some reason the 500w is cheaper.
I recapped the first few out of paranoia but since I don't stress them I figured I skip the recap and see how they go.
I peak inside once a year to check-up. Still no issues after 2 or 3 years.

Your old PSU would be fine with a recap.
      Better than original in fact.

        Thanks all.

Unfortunately, review sites are where I can possibly get high res pictures of the PSU innards. So I'm stuck with them.

By the time reports of problems start cropping up, the Rev B is probably on the shelves by then. Nigh impossible to get the Rev A. Who knows whether the new one incorporates cost-cutting or bug fixes?

Antec's probably going to say "It's nothing personal, Jack. It's just good business." Just like that movie.

Most likely, I'll narrow down to 2 choices, then toss a coin. And hope the thing works.

In the middle of re-capping an Antec Earthwatts 430 now, so I thought I'd share some pics of the innards in case it would help anyone else. I've only replaced 1 OST 3300uF 10V so far, ran out of solder wick. Replaced it with a Rubycon. Have 8 more caps to do, I think.

Recapped a nearly identical Antec Earthwatts 330 a few days ago for my wifes PC. Running fine. Also did an Antec True330, haven't put it in a PC yet, but with a load all the voltages seem to check out ok.

Antec Earthwatts EA-380 smd element type/value
            by sirpsychol
While recaping Antec Earthwatts EA-380 I've broke one side of unknown smd element, it have no print, it's flatter and darker than smd capacitors on this board, shaped more like resistor but it's not resistor ofc. Unfortunetly the printed description was under it and element was glued to the board so I cant read/tell the letter before element number too. Have anyone any idea what it is? Maybe is there any diagram of this PSU?

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
            by Foetuss
            Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

            Abit BE6-II motherboard
            by ziplock
            Greetings,

I have an Abit BE6-II motherboard that posts sporadically with the bare minimum components installed - CPU, RAM, PSU, and a Keyboard. I know it posts when the speaker beeps. Re-seating the components has no effect.

I thought the sporadic posting might be capacitor related. Upon inspection, non of the caps are bulged or leaking and they are all original. So, I pulled them ALL. While the ESR is OK, over half of them are leaking current between 1 and 2 mA. The biggest offenders are way out of spec, like a 1500uf / 6.3V measuring 2600uF and many of the 820uF caps...

            Abit ST6-Raid repair
            by tbalint3
            Hello All,

I am trying to repair an old Abit ST6-R motherboard.

            The symptoms are the following:
I got it in a non-working state. I was told that it sometimes turned on, but many times just the CPU fan was spinning and no other signs of life, the board didn't POST, and now it doesn't POST at all.

It was full of bulged electrolytic capacitors, so I replaced all of them with new Low-ESR ones, but it didn't solve the problem.
If I install a CPU in the S370 socket, only the fans are spinning and no POST. There are no beep codes even if the RAM DIMMs...
